Nice article on the Sister's floor general.

Check out this article from Des Moines Register:

Iowa State's Emily Ryan explains why she decided to stay with the Cyclones

Didn't see this in the digital version of the Register this morning. Hope it is published on Saturday or Sunday so that it gets wider attention.

Poaching? From the article:

Fennelly said opposing teams tried to poach her.(!) But Ryan said she never considered transferring.

It never occurred to me that Lexi and Fritz not only let Fennelly, Iowa State, and Fans down but, especially, Emily their friend.

I don't think we have to say Emily is loyal (because then disloyal comes into the conversation and that anathema can never be mentioned apparently.)

Ryan stayed old school and that is what we respect about her. She's dancing with the one who brung her. I admire and like that about her. She has her own chapter in our WBB history now for this to go with the gold star by her name for stellar play.

I'm glad Emily Ryan stayed and that ISU continues to be a great fit to finish her college education and basketball career.

But not a fan of tearing down Lexi and Denae for leaving. Life is about choices and they decided their education, basketball and personal needs are better met elsewhere. IMO not a lot different than someone changing employers.

I was told a former team parent opined CBF sees Emily Ryan as how he would play if he were able to take the floor. It certainly looks this way to an outsider, as she rarely sits. It also explains Emily’s loyalty to Bill and why Bill is quoted as saying he wouldn’t he here if Emily had transferred.

I’m not the Ryan fan that many on here are, but I believe she’s doing what Bill wants so the dribble-laden half court play can’t be held against her. Having said that, I’ll change my tune if she can lead this group of transfers and promising freshmen to an upper half league finish and tournament appearance. It’s now undeniably her team - let’s see what she does with it! Go State!!!

How can anyone not be a Ryan fan? Even before this whole episode. She's not a perfect player by any means, but she's extremely easy to cheer for.

You also are not a Fennelly fan, you have made that very clear.

So is Bill suggesting he’ll retire when Em is done at ISU? I think it will be the case unless there is a strong successor for her. Don’t think he wants to go through another year of point guard by committee.

She'll need to look to score more than she did this last season in my fan opinion. She took 20% few shoots than she did in the previous season. Think she needs to shoot as many as Donarski did this last season with no other proven Big 12 stars on the roster. Not saying the transfers and new gals won't be up to Big 12 play, just that at this point they are unproven.

No, I think he was just joking that he'd get fired or resign if Ryan transferred away.

I'm a huge Ryan fan, and I'm excited to see what she'll do this year. I'm expecting a big jump in her offense.
Seeing many pictures of the team and Ryan looks skinner and very very fit. She is tough as nails and will be the ringleader in this new adventure.

*I should have said leaner.
