Running back coach...

What UNLV did running the ball in the one year he was there is pretty inconsequential as far as I'm concerned. It could be attributed to a lot of things including, but not limited to, play calling, offensive line play, and talent present to work with at RB. Not saying he would be a good or bad hire. Just that it would be much better to look at what he did at places he was at longer, most importantly when he held the same job at aTm.

He has an impressive resume, but my only question (and an honest one) is why does he only seem to stick at a place for 2 or 3 yrs?

His previous three stops (1998-2000 TCU; 2001-02 Alabama; 2003-07 Texas A&M) were all under the same head coach: Dennis Franchione.

Assistants coaches are hired for their recruiting just as much as their coaching. Looks like we are getting guys who are good at both, I love this staff so far!

One thing i observed, Chizik has never really been at one school for more than 2 years

The longer the DC goes unnamed the more it seems they may be involved in one of these last two games.

The move from SMU is easily explained - he was on the staff when SMU was hit with the infamous death penalty. Hopefully that was far enough in the past that he has earned a clean slate. The reality is that most of the southern schools were doing the same thing - SMU just wasn't very good at it and got caught.

Can't say on this one other than I had also heard the name Dave Schramm thrown around. Haven't heard anything official/unofficial though. Both have Utah connections to spread offense (second hand for Pope) and both have a Big 12 connection (weak for Schramm GA at NU) If it is Pope he should have good TX/AL recruiting connections. BTW Pope's nephew is former Miami Dolphin linebacker and Alabama linebacker Derrick Pope.

Schramm seems pretty good, young and looks like he has good recruiting ties to California. Also recruiting cord. at Utah

One thing I wonder is what will be the makeup of the last three spots on the staff. So far we have an OC/QB coach, TE/Tackles coach, RB coach, assistant head coach and offensive position to be named, DE/DL coach, and Secondary coach. My best guess is that we will get two more defensive coaches and one more offensive coach. Obviously one coach will be the DC and that may coach a position group as well. The other defensive coach could be in any area: secondary, linebackers, or defensive line. If it is secondary or D line the DC will be the LB coach. For the offensive coach my best guess is an WR coach with Bleil coaching the O line, but it could be the visa versa.
