Royce White Timeline

:biglaugh:
:biglaugh: thats all hilarious however i still believe a national title someday with the right team is not just me drinking kool aid. Doubters here say what you will but im a firm believer it can and will happen in my lifetime

Of course it can! We should have won a national title in 2000! And if you concede that we were the 2nd best team that year, (Izzo and others would agree with that), the 2nd best team is still in the title hunt. And if you are in the hunt, then you are obviously capable. Whether it will happen or not, I dont know, but it certainly could happen. And that doenst need to be washed down with kool-aid.

This. I still think about that Michigan State game back in 2000. Had ISU gotten by Michigan State I am 100% confident that the National Title was ours.

Absolutely. And I believe if it werent for the refs, we would have gotten past Mich st. I know, Im playing the ref card. But in this instance I think it is warranted.
The biggest glaring example of the national anti-ISU bias or at least major inconsideration is the 2 seed we received that year. No way that if Kansas won the Big 12 conf AND tourney would they receive a 2 seed and be stuck in with Mich st. Our 2 seed was bull****!

We did have stretches during that game where we really hurt our own cause one can certainly say that the officiating down the stretch really hurt ISU that night. I am pretty sure that the whistle happy ref and Larry had a bit of a fued going that year. That is why Larry went straight for him at the end when he got tossed.

Yeah... the #2 seed was a big stinking pile of ********* for sure. ISU had dominated the Big XII that year and 2 of our 3 conference losses were in OT. That team was incredible and it does show anybody that doesn't think that ISU could contend for a National Title that it most certainly can be done.

Butler got to the final game. That gives hope to more than just ISU. That's no disrespect to Butler either.

Any forlorn regulation body takes 90 days to react at a minimum.

Translation?
I *think* I remember reading that the NCAA is required to issue a decision to an appeal (or whatever this circumstance would be called) in 90 days or less. That was part of why Royce had to decide fairly quickly, to force that 90 day NCAA clock to start in order to have any chance of playing this season. He committed on 7/13 (I think). I don't know when the paperwork was/will be filed but 90 days from 7/13 is October 11th.

Coach Hoiberg seems fairly positive about the situation which gives me a lot of hope that RW will play next year. You don't often hear a coach stoking expectations unless there is some real merit to the situation. During the Lucca saga for instance, it was nothing but gloom and doom from the coaching staff; they knew they had no shot. Similer climate for Gilstrap as well. If Coach Hoiberg says there is a good chance then I believe him.

You are 100% correct. In the NCAA tournament you don't have to have the most talent to win it. You definitely need a couple of scorers and excellent guard play but you also need a favorable draw. In 2000.... ISU nearly made it to the Final Four but had anything but an easy road. Then again.... Tom Izzo and the Spartans probably saw ISU go up as the #2 in their bracket and thought that they got totally screwed on that one too.

November 2010 - 30.4 ppg average
December 2010 - 33.4 ppg average (including a 58 pt effort @ Iowa, sorry Lafester)
January 2011 - 27.4 ppg average
February 2011 - 27.6 ppg average
March 2011 - 25.2 ppg average - ISU wins the Big 12 Tourney....pandamonium in OKC for Hoiberg's first year.... phone calls to Gmac and Creighton AD saying thanks!!!
April 2011 - Wins National Title for Iowa State. Ames goes crazy... Johnny Orr is in the stands pumping his fist right in front of Norm Stuart and Jason Sutherland....telling him that HIS player (CFH) has had a way better post college career than 'his' golden boy.

Then I wake up from my awesome dream.

Nah, I bet he doesn't get to play because the NCAA will rule against it. Ha....

Are you kidding me? NOBODY...and I mean NOBODY beats lafester! What the heck is wrong with you?

I may not be remembering this right, but didn't we get so screwed that we got a 3 seed the year we lost to mich st. then the next year without fizer we got the 2 seed and lost in the first round?

I think the claim is we should have had a #1 seed because we did so well in the Big 12.

FWIW our friends at gopherhole are saying he is pretty rusty and will need a year and a half to get back into it. Playing on an AAU team apparently. Sounds like he needs to get down here and out of MN. They are pretty hard on him in the tread (Howard Pully tonight?) . I guess consider the source. Hopefully he can fit in well with us and be happier in Ames. Get Joe, Royce!

It was a two seed both years.
