Royce White on PTI

If he would have given that explanation to everyone on what the major issue was from the beginning, this would not have been the massive storm it ended up being...

He sounds like he knows what he's talking about.

No joke, if he would have done a few interviews like this instead of his Twitter rampage, this would have been solved months ago. Oh well, I'm glad everything's coming together for him so he can succeed.

He sounded very impressive, hope they can get this figured out and get him on the court.

Twitter can make anybody sound stupid. Not blaming Twitter though. Royce has almost always been impressive verbally.

It wasn't what he said on Twitter, it was what he did, mainly re-tweeting and #BeWell-ing almost every hater he saw. Probably didn't need any of that.

Before this week, I would have said he should avoid the media..but maybe doing more interviews like this will help his image. The guy can talk circles. Wouldn't want to debate him

What did he give as the explanation?

He actually went into the details within the CBA and Uniform Player Contract about how there really isn't any set standard for mental health issues like there is for "standard" health issues, then explained that his whole fight/struggle was about establishing a protocol for mental health issues than got out of hand.

Royce then went on to confirm that him and the Rockets/NBA are finishing up getting some sort of standard established in his contract that will hopefully help prevent something like from happening with any other player going forward as there will be prior experience behind this issue, and that he will report to Rio Grande Valley on 2/11/13

Thanks. Does anyone think that he was legally required to not discuss the details of the negotiation before this? Otherwise why open up about it now that an agreement seems to be in place?

Yeah, most employers frown upon public discussion of specifics within contracts. I would assume the Rockets are no different.
