Royce traded to Sixers

nvm, found this

The Houston Rockets have agreed to trade 2012 first-round pick Royce White to the Philadelphia 76ers for future draft considerations, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The moves clears White's $1.7 million contract for next season, giving the Rockets further flexibility to deliver a maximum contract offer to free agent star Dwight Howard.

Along with White, who clashed with the organization and never played a minute in the regular season, the Rockets will send the draft rights to an international prospect and cash.

White, the 16th overall pick in the 2012 draft, has an anxiety disorder that has limited his ability to participate in the NBA. He spent most of the season suspended or playing with Houston's D-League affiliate.

so pretty much nothing.

Well, cap space, which is pretty much the order of their day right now.

No one losing in this deal, since Philly didn't give up anything, and Houston got the center they wanted.

Royce White to 76ers

Looks like Royce is on the move to Philly. I find this interesting, mainly because a team is going to be picking him up. Maybe they feel that they would be able to meet his needs that he is asking for. Should be an interesting story to follow.

1) Philly isn't a city for an athlete such as Royce. Very tough fans that expect championships every year, could be a good thing for Royce, could be bad.

2) Philly is gonna suck next year and Royce has a great chance for playing time.

I don't see this as a good thing...
1. Philly Media, enough said
2. Philly fans, also enough said.

This is the fan base that threw snowballs at santa for christs sake!

3) Houston has no playing time for Royce either, especially if the rumors that Josh Smith is going to be a Rocket are true.

A fresh start for Royce is needed for both sides. He gets a clean slate and if he gets playing time he'll be happier and have an easier adjustment to the league.

The point about Philly fans being brutal on players they don't believe are performing it 100% correct. This isn't the most ideal for Royce it is situation but it could work. After all he no longer isn't a Teams First round draft pick that isn't performing, he is a flyer for future considerations. He shouldn't have much if any, expectations from fans in Philly on day one.

Re: Royce White to 76ers

Yeah, should be interesting. Plenty of time to change people's perceptions of him

Also, the posters at clutchfans.net couldn't be much giddier right now.

Obviously, the Dwight Howard news has them going crazy. The Royce to Philly thread was already up to 242 posts a little bit ago. They're pretty happy about everything right now.

Re: Royce White to 76ers

Glad to hear this. My hope for Royce is he makes the most out of this second chance just like he did at ISU.

On the other hand, if you've got talent, it's a city that has embraced guys with complex personalities or personal issues (iverson, Vick, etc.). Obviously he actually has to show up and play this time.

Re: Royce White to 76ers

Glad he got a second chance. As someone with anxiety issues of my own I understand how hard it is to deal with it day to day. I hope he can help inspire others with anxiety by fighting his fears and showing others can be done. Royce make everyone with anxious issues and everyone from cyclONE national proud.

Re: Royce White to 76ers

As a Sixers fan, not gonna hold my breath on this one.

I think this is true. He could very likely still wind up somewhere else though. I'm sure he is already Tweeting about this.
