I forget what game it was but Homan got roughed up and took off like a rocket breathing fire. He was from a farm in NW Iowa and Eustacy said in the post game “it was like somebody stole his cow!” One of the all time quotes from an ISU coach. Homan could get fired up and Eustacy knew how to pull his trigger. Also had a big named Froman at the time who went on and played pro several years. Great era under Eustacy with back to back conference champs.

Kalscheur is making a case for CPOTY as the best two-way guard in the Big 12 if not the country. Grill isn't far behind him. Holmes wasn't brought in to come off the bench. Nor was Osun. Kunc seems like the team-first type who would embrace being the sixth man to pester other teams.

Keep the same starting 5. Let Jaz ease his way back in. I doubt he'll be getting 28+ minutes as frequently as he was earlier in the season.
The Jaz/Tre King combo off the bench likely cuts into Big Rob's time some.
The staff will figure out based on matchups too.

Not on you personally but Jones is not a decent offensive player in any way. He is a good rebounder, defender and plays hard which helps the intensity of the team when he is on the floor but he throws up some woeful bricks at point blank. He is an important part of the team but his contribution on the offensive side is never to be expected.
I agree with this. I think Jaz cuts into Big Rob and Watson’s minutes. Watson’s been great, but you want experienced guys in the floor late in the season. And, IMO, Jaz is more consistent than Rob and Watson + has a higher IQ and Tre is still getting his feet under him but has shown glimpses of being a dude
I noticed the switch on several occasions. Those guys held their own well, logic would suggest Carr would be able to take advantage and drive past, but he wasn't able to do so in most cases.
You are right about people being too harsh. As I said, I love me some Big Rob Energy.
Some of Bob's misses are of a more spectacular nature, which might lead to complaints, though if there had been CF game threads for games involving Homan I'm sure there would have been people ******** about him as well.
If there is one constant to human nature, it seems that there will always be message board ********. I'm afraid I've engaged in my share, unfair though it was.
Let's hope that Big Rob Energy has his best games to come as the Cyclones triumph over their evil foes.
No doubt we are glad we have him, especially for depth and Osun foul prone. Think Rob just frustrates fans because a few weeks back he was scoring inside and now, even when he's doubled or pressured, he forces a bad shot and doesn't pass it back out. I like Tre King's physicality and what Ward brings. When he returns can Kunc play the '5' and/or King to spell Osun? Or is that asking for trouble? Is that too much 'small ball'?
I think we're seeing a preview of the future rotation starting with Ward taking some of Jones' minutes when the match-up dictates.

Jones is who he is. Some games he just really struggles and I'm glad that we have enough depth that he doesn't have to play much in those games. I'm sure he's going to have a few more big games for us this year though. Definitely want to see as much of Osun as possible though
No, he didn’t He had 19 points and 20 rebounds game vs. North Carolina in a blow out loss 92-65. He was 8-19 shooting in that game.
Watching Carr being unable to drive around Osunniyi and Ward because of their length and shiftiness and Jones because of his 11/10 hustle rating was pretty funny. Hunter could at least get around them, but he always seemed to be scared of the shot blocker/passed out of the drive or went in and got blocked.
As it stands now Gabe is a first team all conference guy. Not to say he couldn’t come off the bench, but he’s in “play every minute he can handle” more right now.
Exactly- I dont mind Jones. It'll be game to game and thats the reality. Cyclones are a tough tough team when Osun is playing well, the problem is he doesnt have the conditioning Gabe or Caleb do and cant go 38 minutes. So Jones will need to come in. It certainly isnt due to lack of effort. I had no problem with his miss shots. You need to keep pounding the post- its an investment for our perimeter AND lets face it, we all knew the free throws werent going in. My only criticism of Jones is--- cue my 1990's inner coach--- if you are going to foul make them limp or make sure they dont make the shot!
Rob has had two tough games, and his minutes went down. He has been pretty good much of the year. With King emerging and Ward improving he is probably back to shorter spurts and fewer minutes. What he, Osun, King and now Ward can do switching and guarding 1-5 is such a defensive weapon.
Homan and Vroman would run circles around Bob. Not a knock.........just the way it is.
Vroman yes, Homan no. Homan was not a good offensive player. He shot 43% in his senior year. We had Blalock and Stinson so he didn’t have to carry the load or take last second shot like Jaren Holmes has to do this year. Homan was a tough rebounder and good defensive player, but he missed more bunnies than Jones.
Timmy must have been frustrated. Kind of seemed like he had a melt down at the end on his last couple fouls. Like he'd given up and just wanted to go to the bench.
