1) Lots of competition at 149
2) very thin at 174. Does Dane drop or does Marcus wrestle?
3) how did Colbray redshirt??He wrestled varsity early-right?
4) love to see the Iowa kids walking on.

We have some talent. As others have said next years recruiting class is critical. Need to close on some of that top talent.

do they issue medical redshirt a right away? I thought you had to apply for that once your clock runs out... maybe I'm way off base here.

Makes sense that he would be eligible for one though.

Yeah, I thought that you had to wait until your eligibility was up and then apply. But maybe the process is different if you didn't take a normal redshirt as well, so you're asking to redo your first year vs. getting a 6th year added?

Concerning question #2

Dane said he is going 184. That is from Takedown radio interview this morning.

Maybe our other senior Colin Strickland will be 174

Any chance Bush dropping down to 74? He was 160 in HS. I've never seen him wrestle. So not sure how big his frame is.

Anyway- thanks for the reponses. I'm ready for the new era of Cyclone wrestling. I can take some loses as long as we are fundamentally sound, is shape and competing hard.

I don't know the details on the Cobray situation, but I think it is similar to what happen to Logan Stieber his freshman year. Stieber was wrestling varsity until he broke his hand early in the season and the NCAA allowed him to use that year as a medical hardship redshirt.

Here are the requirements:

  • The student-athlete must suffer the injury during one of their four seasons of college competition or during the senior year of high school.
  • The injury must be incapacitating. That means it must be a season-ending injury.
  • The injury must occur prior to the start of the second half of the season.
  • The student-athlete must not have competed in more than 30% of the season or three contests, whichever is greater.

  • Agree

The problem is that he's really not a quality D-1 starter. Trying not to sound mean there. Happy to have in the program.

I've never seen him wrestle. Just assumed he was recruited to start from JUCO.

He was a "late" recruit. Finished 8th at the NJCAA tourney last year. Again, I don't wan't to disrespect the kid. I'm glad he's here. His resume just doesn't say he's a quality D1 starter. But if he's the guy in there, I root for him like crazy.
