Ronny Nelson Update?

Does anyone know Ronny Nelson's current status with the football team? From what I understood he was completing a one credit online course this spring in order to be eligible for next fall. Now that spring semester is over, is he officially with the football team or are there still more hoops to jump through? He is not listed on the roster at cyclones.com but perhaps this hasn’t been updated in some time. Info?

The last I hear, Rony was on pace to be a Cyclone this fall. I haven't heard anything that would make me think differently at this point. Nothing solid here but I assume no news is good news on the Nelson front.

you are more "in the know" than i am on the situation. i wasnt even aware that he added a 2nd "n" to his first name.
 
Not trying to thread hijack, but is there any news on Floyd Mattison? Didn't he also sign with a JUCO institution...is he going here or there?
 
Awesome news all around. Alabama is on the "march to 85" as they remove a player here and there to account for oversigning. Meanwhile ISU under Rhoads is on a different march to 85 to reach the maximum scholarship amount.

Hopefully a year from now ISU will have a full 85.

When was the last time ISU had roughly a full 85? 2004 perhaps?

I don't know, I thought that ISU was at 85 or close pretty much every year. Yeah, there's usually a couple of recruits that don't make it, but for the most part, those scholarships go to SR walk-ons. There's no reason not to be at 85 every year if you have a strong walk-on program.

Not even close to 85. "Usually a couple recruits?
The number floating around last year during the season was only 72 scholarship players.

Mac had trouble getting guys to show up their freshman year down the stretch of his tenure which hurt depth a lot. The cupboard was bare once he was out. The Mac/Chizik transition class of 07 was pretty rough as well. I wanna say at most 6-8 of those guys lasted all 4 years.

The 07 class had a lot of jucos. Oddly enough(thankfully), the Jucos were about the only guys to really make a huge impact.

If Rhoads can get ISU to 85 for the start of 2011, things will be looking up.
Depth and bodies is so critical to the FB program.

This goes back to Mac getting pushed out. He didn't have the bodies on hand to fare much better than chizik did. At one point in 06(?) ISU couldn't play nickle or dime defense because they didn't have a viable options as an extra DB.
 
Nuts4Cy if you need more proof on Mattison being enrolled you can check cyclones.com, cool post tho.
