Rocco's NIL value

Let's get real. Rocco hasn't showed much for NFL potential. Some accurate mid range, and slant passes. Any beyond 40?
Who cares if he's as good as Purdy or has NFL potential yet. He was the freshman offensive player of the year in the conference and is either at or near the top of freshman quarterbacks nationally. I'm not going to put any limits on him yet, but at worst his floor seems to be really good college quarterback. Are you drunk or something?

Isn't this thread about him supposedly getting paid more than Brock does now?

This thread is about Rocco getting offered a 7 figure deal. The fact it would be more than Purdy is just something to chuckle at because obviously Purdy is not making fair market value. If he was it would probably be 20 times what Rocco was offered.

It is funny, isn't it

Rocco a good qb with a good oline. He will be decent with us, as long as our oline continues to struggle. He is NOT Brock Purdy status. Sorry. This is not a thought, a reality. My thoughts are if we can ever improve our oline the kid from south east polk is a game changer
No

I think fans at big time schools are actually getting sick of it now. Ohio State has lost several significant guys to the portal. Same with big time SEC schools. You cannot tell me that coaches nationally and the fans want to have a team full of random mercenaries from other schools each year.

Coaches also don't want to re-recruit their entire roster every year. And the system needs to change b/c it shouldn't be on the fans to pay. We pay with tickets to Jack Trice, and our TV subscriptions. Now I pay to the We Will every year because I'm a die hard, but that is not most people especially those not on this board.
Remember the days when you would watch a game against some random directional school like SW Idaho St or some **** like that and they were halfway decent because they had some really good senior 5-star player? I always admired those guys and their dedication to their school.

Well, thanks to NIL those days are over. The big conferences and richest programs will start amassing all the best talent (even more than before).

I can't tell of you're a troll or just can't get past the bowl game.
Honestly it's the money getting thrown everywhere these days. Kid has a down year transfer. Different kid has a good year chase the money. Disappointing bowl game yes. Not a biggie.

When has a 5 star ever gone to a random directional school!?!

The top 10-20 programs recruiting wise are the same, outside of a few, as they were 20-25 years ago.

SPY average 10.26% since inception in 1957. If you invest what is left of the 250k per year at 2024 tax brackets (which will actually go down each year meaning less taxes)

Does this include the exclusion of state taxes, fica, and living expenses? Living expenses should light, but u never know. It appears you are investing years 1-4 as if they are annual payments on day 1 of each year?? Even with those deducts, it will still be a huge sum.

As u know, timing is everything, but you gotta love compounding of interest! Good job.

Well, thanks to NIL those days are over. The big conferences and richest programs will start amassing all the best talent (even more than before).

5 stars at directional schools?

He was a late bloomer but JJ Watt when to a directional school, then got really good, so he transferred.

Transferring was a PIA back then and that's likely a large source of the 'loyalty'.

I don't know why people keep thinking there was a time when college athletics had some sort of purity to it.

Make a sports team>people watch>people pay to watch>find more ways for more people to pay to watch>profit.

And ISU just won 7 games in a complete rebuild type of year. Pretty good for a team that is supposedly being devastated by NIL.

It’s not even a matter of big schools poaching from smaller schools. Big schools are poaching from each other. Both Florida and Ole Miss’ (both of whom are flush with NIL) stud RBs are transferring to other blue bloods. Look at how many good players are transferring from USC.

Everyone is right, the big schools always recruited the best kids. That is the same today as it has always been. What’s changed is every school (even the blue bloods) have to re-recruit all their players every year. So a school like Iowa State always has to worry about losing those diamonds in the rough. That’s different than it was before

Players still want to play. The big dollar NIL programs can’t hold onto players if they never see the field.

And I'm hoping this is the thing that leads to it falling on itself for more concrete boundaries to be established. It will take the blue bloods throwing tantrums.

I guess I didn't follow all that closely but it didn't seem like the Bamas and Georgias had the same sort of depth this season as they normally do.

I don't know if that was NIL influenced and they were still obviously very good, but just seemed more vulnerable.
