Road-Trip to Norman

Heading to Oklahoma to watch the Clones. Any suggestions on nice hotel near stadium and bars for best game day experience much appreciated. Assuming ISU football team stays in Oklahoma City which is an option too. Thx in advance.
I hear ya!

We are staying at an Air BNB in Moore.

On gameday, it looks like there is free parking by the Lloyd Noble Center. Does anybody know what time those lots open?

Someone posted above the dfw cyclones group link. Their tailgate starts at 2pm over in the RV lot section. When we went in 2021 it seemed like the lots are just always open since the lot is free.

The question would more be when do shuttles start. Its worth paying for that to save the walk. It wasn’t expensive, like $5-10 or so round trip? Easier to get there than it is to get back.

Park for Free, Ride the Shuttle
To help alleviate parking congestion on OU home football game days, shuttle service is provided from Lloyd Noble Center to a stop near the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Fans may park at the Lloyd Noble Center for free and pay $5 per person for a round trip ride on the shuttle. The shuttles begin three hours before each game (four hours before homecoming). Shuttles from the LNC continue until one hour after the game or until the line of fans has dispersed.

Info about Baylor and OU tailgates put on my DFWCyclones.

We have attended 3 or 4 tailgates hosted by the DFW club and they are excellent people to be around. They also do a Saturday host party at a bar in the Dallas metroplex each week that is a lot of fun to attend if you are ever down there when ISU is playing at home or not close to Dallas.

Highway mowing crews out like crazy in OK today. Keep an eye out as they will drive on interstate without hazard lights on. Saw it 3 times already today. Guy in left lane doing 80mph almost smoked one of the tractors on backside of a hill...no hazard lights going.

Sitting at our Hilton Garden Inn in OKC by the airport. Have a buddy that got us $40/night rooms. Pretty sweet place, especially for the price. Thanks for the tailgate info as I have 2 college students with me. So I wasn't sure how or where to tailgate down here with 2 minors. Can't wait for my first and our last trip to Norman.

Staying at same hotel but not coming in until tomorrow.

I thought I was a glutton for punishment when I made the same trip in 2017. Turned out to be the greatest Cyclone victory I ever witnessed in person, and I've been going to games for a long long time.
One more time!?

Stayed at Sooners Legends in 2017. Its not longer open, but its a sooners themed hotel with each room decked out for specific players or sports. After we won I was loaded and it was Karaoke night at the bar. They wouldn't let me sing the Iowa State fight song. You can also smoke in the bars in Norman so that was fun.
Beating them was bad enough, huh?

Drove around Lloyd Noble last night, only saw about 10 Porta pots. Not sure if any of the buildings are open, or will it be long lines?

not very many people tailgate in the Noble lots. People park there and shuttle into the stadium. They sell beer in the stadium so people go there early that we do in Ames.

The RV lots area had more tailgating going on. If you do the DFW Cyclones tailgate there won't be too bad of lines over there.

If you can walk, it’s not a long one, but you will get to the stadium quicker than with the shuttle.
