No. He worked a lot with Jim Nance back in the day though.
That is Bill Rafferty. The same guy who said "Send it in Jerome!" and "Onions!" Currently calling the Michigan/Purdue game. He's one of my favorites. The dude is 80, so enjoy him while you can.
For us oldies this was a very good crew back in the day:

I also thought it was him initially. Packer was great as well. RIP
This reminds me of back in the day when the NCAA Tournament song was "This is it" by Kenny Loggins and not "One Shining Moment.
Early on in the 1986 NCAA Tournament victory of the Cyclones over Michigan, Billy Packer said on the CBS telecast when Michigan was leading, “It looks like the varsity vs the junior varsity”.
I hate to be that guy. I really do. But it was **** Stockton who said that. Packer was the color guy, but it was Stockton's quote. I never forgave him
He was an extremely talented color guy, but was also a really abrasive pr!ck behind the scenes based on a few different anecdotes I've read/heard. Hopefully he mellowed out later in his life.
Way Way back in the day it was Al McGuire and Packer. The OG of basketball announcers along with **** Emberg.
McGuire the brash New Yorker and Packer Mr. Tobacco Road.
Cyclone fans always keep the receipts. Even when you die we won't let you forget about it.

All three of these legends are gone now. I had forgotten that **** Enberg passed away in 2017.
He was that way as an announcer at the end too. Nothing like listening to someone who seems to hate college basketball announce its biggest games. CBS should have pulled him off the air much earlier than they did.
