I’ll be moving to Providence, Rhode Island from May 16 - August 31. Anyone been there and have any suggestions? I’m 28/M going with 25/F

Thanks

Not a bad area. Seafood is incredible. Usually hang out at Thayer Street if traveling there - that is where most of the night life is.

The coast is nearby and a great place in the summer. Boston is about an hour depending on traffic and that is where I would spend the weekends.

We went for a family vacation a long time ago. I thought it was really cool. There are some sweet mansions to tour

Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods are right the. Block island is cool. Stay away from the massholes, there’ll be plenty

Only stopped in a bit, to Providence Place and it was fine for a mall.

The nearby beaches plus the ones down the coast of CT are quite nice. Ask around to make sure they don't have any "red tide" or you'll itch where you don't want to.

The Portuguese food in Providence is awesome.

In the summer, they have the WaterFires events in normal years. Not sure if they're happening now but the waterfront area there has really become a hip place in the last decade or so.

And easy to get to downtown Boston as noted. Great place (Back Bay > downtown. North End Italian restaurants are worth visiting).

Newport is pretty swanky and hip, about 45 minutes south of Providence. Really nice waterfront vibes there.

Go to Newport and take the Mansion walk along the coast. Water that far North is generally cold, even during the summer.
Housing is expensive as hell, but a ton of history every direction you go and the sea food is out of this world.

Yes, I currently live in the state. Lived in Newport for a while, but we just bought a house in Portsmouth which we hope to close by 4/30.

Let me know your questions.
