Paul Rhoads stays true to his roots in rebuilding the Iowa State football program - College Football News | FOX Sports on MSN

And so when the Cyclones upset the national championship picture last November, this was more than a 26½-point underdog stepping up big on the national stage. This was more than the first time Iowa State had ever beaten a team ranked in the top six. This was more than an Iowa State middle finger pointed in the general direction of Auburn, Ala. This was Paul Rhoads starting a bit of a winning tradition in a place that’s used to being the underdog.

Haha, very well written article. Impressive amount of legwork done by the author.

Just a really well written piece that captures exactly the mindset of the Cyclone fan base. I can't ******* wait until tomorrow.

the Author makes a good point, the enthusiasm is there, the confidence that the Cyclones could win any given Saturday (or Friday!) is there, but to really keep this moving forward - Rhoads will need to get some consistency. DMAC had the same enthusiasm, built it to a bowl team and then fizzled - I think what Rhoads is doing is bigger but we will need to see it on the field in the next 2 years to keep this momentum alive!

Dmac was never this enthusiastic and he would always turtle in big moments. I.E he would have never gone for the fake field goal against Nebtard for the win. I do though appreciate what Dmac did for ISU, he just lacked the "it" factor that Rhoads has.

Don't disagree - and its pretty apparent the Big 12 North and the state of the teams at DMAC's time were an advantage for getting some winning seasons, I guess the point is - PR will have to win more than 6 games to maintain this enthusiasm he has built- here's hoping it starts this year
