So I was in north ames last week getting a haircut and I noticed in that new developement in the north stange area that there were a few restaurants. Does anyone know anything about them? or how many there are?

I heard a rumor that El Azteca was opening a new restaurant in Somerset. Could be hearsay though...

Ya i just noticed there looked like a couple of fancier bar and grills with maybe a decent wine list and things like that up there but i am not sure. i have never heard anything about them

Somerset? It's only been there for 10 years now. And yes, that is El Azteca moving in on the west side of Stange.

well i have only lived in ames for a year and am just now realizing they're more options for restaurants then i thought. It looked like there were a couple of restaurants

* The Cafe has good food and is moderately priced.

* Black Market pizza is more expensive than your typical college town pissa but the quality is better.

* Brewers the last time I was there had appetizers only which were good but pricey. More of an upscale place than your typical Ames bar.

I would caution takign a date to Black market pizza, they don't seat you and therefore have to find a seat. It's a small place and there aren't that tables in there. But the pizza is good.

Cafe is definitely date material. They have some good food there and the tables feel pretty intimate.
