Restaurants in Ames.

The labor market seems fine. I went to the Ames Target over the lunch hour on Thursday and only one cashier lane was open. There were like 20 of us lined up for the self-checkout. Like I said, everything's fine.

They're fully staffed. You just have to look in the aisles for the employees stocking shelves and filling online orders.

Why would they pay people to check you out when you will do it for them?

Hmmm…. I tried calling their to order last Sunday and always got the busy signal. Wondering if they are facing the same labor shortage?

Yep. They've been advertising for awhile, more so since the semester ended. What used to be 35-minute delivery is now routinely 60.

Nothing more typical than a restaurant thread on CF turning into a bunch of cheap Iowas complaining about how expensive fast food is. Gotta love it.
Someday I’ll be rich enough to eat waygu grass fed burgers…someday.

Not sure. Back in the day,Sundays there were busy as heck.

And stupid good.
When I moved to CT in 2010 I was told Five Guys was the place to go out here by everyone. One of the most overrated places I have been to. Especially with how expensive they are. I am usually not picky with food in any way but Five Guys is one of the few places I have left and said, “So that was it?” I just didn’t understand the hype. Then I heard it was heading to Iowa a few years later, and so many of my friends and family in Iowa were jacked. Told them to lower the expectations and you have a shot. They all had it and agreed.

Honestly if it was the insanely stupid price for their food it would be a lot better but damn it’s expensive for what it is.

Wendy's is very much still open. Went there last weekend and was open at lunch today when I went by. Maybe just limited hours.

I went to Wendys a couple of weeks ago and it took me a half hour to get food.

Also, this. Last I went there were I think 4 cars in front of me, and it took around 20 minutes. Food was good though when I got it.

They have bomb bbq.

I've never heard of Sweet Caroline's. After looking into it, is that the old Old Main building?

Looking at the pictures, it looks like the old Old Main building. It looks like the little beer garden they have is where the brewing tanks used to be.
