Recruits & Transfers

Hopefully Schon and Paniro Johnson are much more than room fillers.
OcyDocy and Boxer007 are right on. I wish the roster was out. Because it is always nice to know who is still around. And actually see the gray shirts and true freshman on the roster. That is why I asked about Helgeson. Haven't heard much about him. And of course Greenly decided to play football.

Getting a stud 197 either through the portal or recruiting would allow Yonger to go on full feed instead of killing himself with the weight cut and then be a 240 lb tough as iron heavyweight for 2 years.

I'd prefer a ready-made and hopefully soon portal guy at 197 if I had my preference.
Looking at Yonger I wouldn’t have guessed he cuts a ton of weight nor does he look like he has the frame for 240. He does look like he is perfect for 97kg though.

Well he looks like a Greek statue right now and is a helluva lot closer to 240 than he is to 197. He's the most powerful athlete on the team and would be explosive as hell with nutrition and Durbin working his magic. A great replacement for Sam.

But I'm not a coach

I thought Schon was tougher than 20 miles of detour…

Is he not with the team any longer?

If Zillmer can do it and be successful at the highest level I see no reason why Bastida couldn’t. Zillmer is around 6’ tall I’m assuming Yonger is about the same. Ben is the man

Zillmer's story is crazy, dude placed at the Midlands at ONE FIFTY SEVEN his freshman year at North Dakota State - now he's our world rep at heavyweight.

This exactly...I'm assuming after a couple years in a college weight room Yonger is finding out he may not be able to hold 197? I am very excited about Schon's career, but the latest comments aren't the most encouraging if Yonger does indeed move up.

Only thing I wouldn’t read into Yonger & 197 vs 285, is we have options & redshirts & potential transfer market all potentially in play. We are not in a position where all our guys are going to be 4 year starters & that is good

He is on both accounts.

But Yonger is a special talent that is just scratching the surface in folkstyle still.

Schon reminds me of a guy who walks into a bar in the old time Western cowboy movies and everyone knows not to eff with him. But he is also just getting back to wrestling after the knee injury.

There's some chatter happening with our friends down in Stillwater that ol' AJ is wearing thin on some people........

I can’t see that kid lasting 3 more years in college wrestling. Gable paved the path for making a name and getting a ticket into the WWE world. I would be surprised if he’s not in MMA or WWE soon. What motivation is that kid going to have to keep going to class or keeping his mouth shut even?
