RECRUITING: Two possible spring targets

Just anxious to see the last three new players. Need a new program every year with Fred to figure out the players.

Bowers has his South Carolina visit scheduled too.
@JucoRecruiting: Cinmeon Bowers (6'7/F/2014) of Chipola College will take an official visit to South Carolina Monday. Bowers is visiting Auburn this weekend

At least Fred should know quickly if he is a good option.

I mean, maybe the guy fell in love with the weather in the Southeast, but if he want to win and have a shot at going deep in the tourney, I would think we could beat those two programs.

There hasn't been anything directly tying ISU to Huff like there has with Anderson though I'm pretty sure.
I think you're right. It sounds like Huff wanted to stay out west but that may be tough unless he fights some of the restrictions. Not sure if there has been much speculation on interest yet. He would be a great fit for Hoiball though.

Given the choice of one or the other I take Huff because he has more eligibility. There hasn't been anything directly tying ISU to Huff like there has with Anderson though I'm pretty sure.
We need to get Hogue and McKay to call up their old teammate Ronnine Stevens Jr. He played with Huff this past season.

To be honest, I'm a little concerned with Bowers, but still trust Fred to make the right decision. He has taken some players that got in some hot water in the past and it worked out. It's just I think at some point if you keep doing that, it has to come back and bite you. At this point, I hope it has been how Fred has handled these players and their situations that has kept them mostly out of trouble in Ames, but there was probably some luck involved too. I also think sometimes program success can help to keep players in line. Hopefully, it will keep working.

As far as the players go, I can see all 3. BDJ would be a given to help replace Kane. Bowers would be good especially if McKay is not available first semester, and because he has 2 years left so he can help replace Hogue. Anderson would be a great addition for next year.

I'm sure Fred will find the pieces he needs. The signing period starts on April 16th I think and ends May 21st. Hopefully they will all sign at the start of the period, but probably not.

You do realize that no matter what type of recruit we would take that the risk is there? There have been more "bite" in high school guys. It makes no sense to worry about it like that.

Ideally, I want BDJ for this coming season and Anderson waiting on the wings for the season after. Save the other scholarship for a last minute transfer (a la McKay)

Does anyone have any rough idea how many players Fred recruited out of high school, who went somewhere else, then decided to transfer and Fred was back in the mix to try and get them into ISU.

Seems this scenario has played out a few times before. Though i'm not sure any of them actually ended up at ISU.

Interesting circle indeed when that happens.

Are there any really solid freshmen transfers out there this year? I would love to see Fred pull in a guy who can play for 3 years. Essentially that's as good as a 4 year guy, and you already know his skills at the college game right from the get go.

In the meantime, I think I'll break out the college basketball preview mags from last fall and look up some of these guys.
