RECRUITING: Thik Bol information

I disagree there. He's at the same level and has a bit more speed and athleticism. I like this guy, but it seems I'm alone on this one.

I like him too....................just not sure we should use our probable last scholly on him. He looks better than Ernst and Carter to me.

Is it correct that Ernst redshirting allows him to transfer and play for another school next season?
That would open up a scholly for Bol

I think it's funny how much people are talking about Ernst transferring

Motley redishirted , then played in most of the games last year, plus was a top-100 recruit who was labeled as having a "wealth of potential". Knew we would have issues getting in on any recruits this year with the transition that occurred, but hopefully the 2017 class can grab some top 100 guys. Meanwhile KU hosts guys like Josh Jackson, Marques Bolden, etc. -5 star guys. Seems to me that expecting to ever overtake KU to win a conference title will be pretty much uphill and almost impossible as they're getting recruiting classes with 5-star guys.

Fred was a very good coach and one of the greatest things to happen to ISU but he was a total failure at recruiting his last couple years for a couple of different reasons.

Prohm has his work cut out for him. It's too early to say whether he can recruit at a high enough level, but I can't say I'm real confident based on what I've seen so far.

Hopefully he can develop some diamonds.

Agree with this. Prohm seems to be a good guy but outside of landing malou and Jackson he hasn't done anything to impress me and that goes with coaching too. Not trying to be a downer but maybe he'll do better when he takes the team over and not eun what the players want

What did you expect from his recruiting?

My frustration isn't with Prohm per se, it's more that we as a program will be going to our 5th straight tourney and 3 straight years ranked in the top 25 (much of that in the 10-15 range), and yet we still can't seem to recruit top 100 HS kids.

We all probably know the reason..... Fred quit recruiting HS kids, Fred to the NBA 2-year saga, Prohm hired late and assembling a staff to recruit in late June.

Either way, it was a wasted opportunity.

Haven't read anything in this thread.

In my mind, Carter is awful on defense but pretty solid offensively in the post.

Bol looks pretty solid on defense.

If added, my guess is they would just compliment each other.

that's what we've noticed...Carter just gets owned on defense but has a couple good offensive moves. My guess is his progression will be all on his work ethic this summer.

And when your team is ranked for 4 straight years tes i do expect a little higher profile recruits

It is frustrating but I think it still has a lot to do with recruiting base. We've tried to pull kids from Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Ohio, but yet many have wanted to play for either an elite blue-blood or their homebased school. Obviously, fans have mixed feelings on the quality of players coming out of our own state, but Fran has basically had an 'in' with almost all of them, mostly guys in Hawk country. The elite guys like Barnes, Paige, etc. went to North Carolina etc. Tough gig recruiting to Ames, I think it always will be. They don't all 'get it' like Naz does.

Adding to your point, Carter was a late signee who wasn't even on campus until late August. He is very green and post prospect generally take a while to acclimate (ex. Diallo) especailly on Defense. I wouldn't be suprise with a full year under the staff teach to improve and I believe he can contribute good minutes next year. The biggest jump in most prospect occurs between freshman and sophmore years in most cases too.
We shouldn't be evaluating Carter on this year with a small sample size to determing what he'll be moving forward.
