RECRUITING: Some Xavier Simpson info

Honestly I'll be really surprised if he isn't a cyclone. If Xavier is out that bodes very well for Isu IMO. Only school that could derail him to Isu would be mich. st. IMO. There are other analysts close to Xavier who has said they believe he is IsU to lose.
With Xavier, Indiana & Purdue all out I have to like our chances with him. Miami seems like a wild card to me though.

Huh?

Edit: nevermind. Think you meant the school, not the person.

Very well may have. It was just a response to an earlier poster who was claiming XS could be leaning elsewhere due to our pursuit of two juco guards. My point to that poster was that shouldn't be an issue with communication, I would think.
Except we have communicated we are in fact in the marker for 2 point guards,1 juco 1 freshman. I think the original point was valid and communication won't help if the truth is we are looking for multiples. NN leaving shouldnt hurt though.

I realize recruiting is different for each kid, but I've to think (hope) we're at a place where we can beat out Illinois for a recruit somewhat easily.

If Hoiberg still here and there were no concerns about the NBA, then yes, would completely agree. Our recent results, game experience and the culture he has created would far surpass Illinois. We have a new coach who is making up ground as far as the 2016 class is concerned. Groce has recruited pretty well at Illinois, they just haven't turned that into wins at the rate you'd expect. But they do have tradition, decent fans and are located closer to Simpson's home if that matters to him. He also grew up in Big 10 country, so that may be a draw. I think he still comes here unless the Michigan school that doesn't get Winston comes calling. And long term, I believe Coach Prohm proves to be a great recruiter, to the extent that Illinois would be considered a lower tier for recruits.

Hopefully losing Noskowiak will be a blessing in disguise and that helps our chances with Simpson. Would be a net gain in my opinion.

Easily? Why?

Based on recent success, why can't we be at a place where Illinois isn't a major obstacle to signing a kid?

Multiple Big Monday games each year
Big 12 Tournament championships
Finishing top 3-4 in the regular season
NCAA tournament success (other than this past year, obviously)

When has Illinois really been a factor in the Big 10? 2009/2010?

One advantage Illinois and other B1G schools have is that they can beat on Hoks 2 to 3 times a year. We only get the gimme game once.

Please stop with the Xavier Simpson info, this is a demographics thread

Simpson added a Wisconsin offer today.
