Recruiting Notebook: Hoops heats up

This isn't a thread about Jordan Railey, guys. And, let me remind everyone to be respectful toward our players.

Chris, Willie Cauley is a big guy we just recently offered. He measured out at 7-1 1/4 and 221 lbs at the recent Nike Skills Academy. He's the shot blocker we could use. Supposed to be very raw, but very long and very athletic. Just scratching his potential, needs to learn how to play hard. 2012 prospect from Olathe, KS. top50 rivals kid

Bump for this, pretty exciting prospect. Anybody with any knowledge of where we sit with Cauley?

Those of you telling us how bad Railey is need to know one thing................our team was bad last year so guess the guys you think are good, really aren't and some of them were seniors, juniors and sophomores. I don't think ISU is in a position to get a Harrison Barnes talent type player just yet so we will have to live with the projects like Jordan and I for one think if he puts the work in he can really help us out in the middle.

I wouldn't call him bad. Schools like ISU need to develop talent. He might never be all big 12, but he should become a solid contributer at least by his junior year. We need several different players with different skill sets for different situations. As a freshman he wasn't a finished product. Another year under friend and added talent around him will only help. As for Cauley, YES PLEASE!

Lets judge a player by his freshman year. Everyone who says Railey sucks or that he wont be any good needs to be punched in the ****. I'm not sure if you guys know, but players get 4 years in college.

I assume K-State is the team to beat, with Missouri narrowly behind, and the Oklahoma schools in the mix as well. KU probably won't offer unless they miss on a few guys they like a little better. ISU would probably have to make up a little ground, but there's no reason that couldn't happen.

I like Fred's chances against those schools. Not saying we'll get him, but its a better situation to be in than we were with Okoro. OU and MU with new coaches, KSU with a psycho coach, and OSU with a coach that might be fired soon.

The staff likes Jordan.

Jordan is a tough kid a freshman in the big 12 will struggle and he has been given a second chance. He is going to have a better soph year. He reminds me of Jared Holman alot. He will get better and be a good addition in the post. Watch and see what he turns into.

Jordan is a tough kid with a HUGE attitude problem

The talk on the Rivals boards is that Okie State leads for Cauley but KSU is also in the hunt. Cauley's mom lives in Oklahoma and Cauley's coaches have ties to both Okie St and KSU. It would be to ISU's benefit for Cauley to decide next spring but I'm not sure if that's going to happen. Dorsey-Walker is supposedly the primary legit target right now for 2012 and it appears Abrahamson is right behind or even.

I really like how Railey has that 15 foot jumper but whenever he would touch the ball last season, the only thing I could think was 'get rid of it Railey, get rid of it!'

I was excited to see Godfrey play this season, not so much Railey. With that said, if he works hard, gets a solid low post game (maybe a signature baby hook) and not be so careless on D, he could become a good Big 12 post.

Multiple sources say that Iowa State doesnt have too good of a chance to land Abrahamson. He is strongly considering Nebraska and Stanford.

Would be great to have a Cato-like player again. Not saying he would be that good, just talking about Cauley's length, shot-blocking/ altering potential, etc.

Really? I didn't know that Ford was on the "hot seat". That would be a pretty dumb move by OSU if they did fire him. He hasn't been around long enough or done poorly enough IMO to warrant that.
