Recruit: Sam Hauser

Interesting to see the shift in recruiting strategy.

Less on the "Matt A." category of just restocking with transfers and hyper-elite one-and-done rentals and back to the 3* and 4* talent guys with maybe a flaw or two to their game or athleticism that you can develop into a monster after a couple of years and are likely to play 3-4 years in the system. Mostly from states like Wisconsin.

Fancy that.

Does anyone have a link to any articles that talk about our recruiting strategy changing? I've seen it mentioned on here several times that we're going to start going after more three and four star kids. We're we really just going after five star type recruits before? I find that hard to believe as it seems like a terrible strategy, with the success of guys like Monte and Niang why would you want to go away from that?

We've been recruiting 4 stars all along, a lot in the Midwest too but have missed out on a lot of them. Hines said he could see us staying more local and not try going after the Malik Monk type players unless they are Midwest kids. I think the whole "changing the recruiting strategy" is a little overblown on here.

The change in recruiting strategy was referenced by Hines, Chris and others multiple times right after Otz was hired.

Is it true? Hard to say for sure but it sure seemed to be into that was passed on to those guys in some capacity.

It was also just a week or so after Fred cancelled his visit to Diallo so it may coincide with some bad news IMO

Ames tribune do cast with Hines maybe first week in April. That is the source of much of the talk. think Hines wrote it somewhere too.

His name just rings future University of Wisconsin star... and that was before I even saw his picture.

Was it his name being similar to Sam Dekker, or the fact he is from Wisconsin that gave you that brilliant insight?

Tough crowd.
Uhhhh... he was just pointing out the obvious. "His name just rings future University of Wisconsin star" is kind of a pointless statement considering the guy is from Wisconsin and they've expressed interest. Wisconsin made back-to-back final fours with mostly Wisconsin-born players, so the idea that a Wisconsin-born player could go onto star at Wisconsin is a little obvious.

It's past your bedtime, children. (mine too)

Sam decker Sam hauser. regardless of where he is from you heare that name and think Wisconsin because of Sam Decker. I think that is all he was saying geesh. That kid will be hard to get out of wisconsin If they offer. The Wisconsin BB excitement got turned up to an all time high this year. plus they are playing better albeit slow, offense. They will be hard to recruit against. Normally we don't have a huge overlap.
