Recruit Lists v2.0

Calling his ranking a joke, question why he is still playing, and one poster implied that one of the shooting guards won't be here next year, but you're probably right that nobody bashed MT.
For our basketball players sake, I hope they have thicker skin than the posters ITT. Goodness...

Just realized we now have 2 open scholarships with SDW leaving. I wonder if Fred will try to use up both or bank one.

I'm not saying Thomas is bad. I'm just saying if he's not hitting shots we have way better options that do other things on the court. On a top ten team you have to prove your worth over someone else and he's not currently doing that. It's that simple.

I still don't get where the criticism is coming from, even with his limited minutes he is third on the team for 3's made. Behind Naz and Niang. His percentage is still respectable 30% and I've really thought that his defense has improved dramatically the last couple of games. He was really hustling out there against k-state and I didn't notice any serious miscues. I hate to continue the derailing of the thread, but I wanted to add my 2 cents and provide the link to the stats that really don't seem to represent the story that all the critiques of Matt seem to want to propagate.

You said nobody bashed him and I pointed out examples where people were. It has nothing to do with thick skin.

Bashing is harsh, prejudicial attack and nearly equivalent to an ad hominem fallacy. I'm not seeing that in this thread. I would say, using EVIDENCE as PROOF of how Matt has performed compared to his ranking and expectations, that the LOGICAL ARGUMENTS others are making have merit.

Also, nothing is more annoying when people on message boards tell others they can't have certain opinions. Hate to break it to ya: if your skin is that thin, a message board isn't the place for you to be. And if Matt's skin is thin enough to let these opinions sink in, he's not the kind of player that would ever be able to perform at a high level in a truly competitive setting.

Wasn't it twitter that CFH told Matt to stop using last year? So, yeah, what fans put on social media can be detrimental even if you think the player should be thick-skinned or avoid looking at it. He shouldn't have to quit doing what most people his age do, and thats social media. One thing we can all agree on...(I think) ...is that every time we see Matt in a game we desperately want him to make a shot, because we love the guy and we're glad he's a Cyclone, and we want him to succeed for all his hard work, if nothing else. We're so pulling for him that it almost draws more attention to his struggles, if you view them as such. I guess that's not all bad to have all of Cyclone nation pulling for you! Hope he has more games like Okie State that spark us on to victory.

Matt has missed a lot of shots by the hair of his chin. Most of them look like they're going in.

PS: We're LUCKY to have a guy as good as Matt be our 8th man.

Matt does a good job on the boards, and demands attention even when his shots are not falling, one has to look at the big picture. He is a pure shooter and the shots will be dropping soon, the law of large numbers tells me so.

Fred will never bank a scholly.

Don't be too sure about that. Last year we could have used one for Dillon Brooks or McKay. This year we could have used one on Burton.

Obviously it worked out with McKay and Burton anyway, but you can't bank on that. Think where we would be if McKay would have ruled us out because we didn't have an open ride last year.
