How did that work out with HB taking all those visits to iowa state

Well Minnesota and the B1G sucking probably helps our cause.

Are we sure he's never been to Ames? I don't know that he has but I know we've been on him for a long time

It got us into his final list whereas he wouldn't have even looked at us if he hadn't been from Ames. So, yes, it was an advantage in his Harrison's case.

Why do you think it is not an advantage recruiting someone from the same city/state?

Just going off the info. in the provided link. It lists us visiting him, but no visits to Ames listed.

Also, and this sounds kind of bad, but it would only be a verbal committment.
If he starts playing this summer and it's obvious he isn't the same player, ISU could pull the offer before he signs.

Iowa State expected to get an unofficial visit from Amir Coffey ('16, MN) next weekend, per a source.



 
I am not going to go back and find it, but Darren Wolfson who covers Minnesota sports, has taken several questions on Coffey. From his stance, he believes that ISU is the team to beat. He says that Minnesota is very involved, but he believes ISU is in the lead. As always, recruiting can change at a drop of a hat depending on who offers and such but I have only heard good news about Amir.
 
Wasn't there some interview with Coffey a couple months back where he listed like 5 or 7 schools that were recruiting him hard and didn't mention Iowa State?

not trying to start anything in this case, but the part that says "recruiting can change at a drop of a hat depending on who offers and such" ....... is was the "and such" that made me chuckle.

Who knows, maybe your gut feeling will be better than sources. lol Sorry, too much recruiting hangover from Vaughn for me. Not to mention the wonderful board visitor that said Uthoff told a Wisc teammate he was transferring to Iowa State. I fell for that one, too.
