Recruit Lists v2.0

Just looking at that list, Baylor is in on a bunch of top 30 guys list. How is that even possible? Man Drew can get in on great highly ranked players. Just amazing really. Then there is us, a school with a great basketball culture, great fan base, great coach, ect...and we are nowhere on anyone like except for Diallo.

Not to mention all the 4 star transfers (Royce and Mckay for example)
Royce White was a 5 star recruit out of high school, not a 4 star. Booker, surprisingly, was a 4 star recruit and so was Lucious and Allen.

I'm confident that Fred can bring in a transfer that will be able to make a monster improvement. Just because Vaughn is an idiot and picked the worst school possible of his final 5, doesn't mean that Fred will fall apart. He will continue to rise, and when guys like Vaughn are seniors and still not in the NBA because of their lousy team play and coach, he will look back and regret his decision.

Out of all of them I bet we land Grandstaff and Johnson. Not too bad. Diallo would be outstanding, but he'll probably go to Syracuse or somewhere else on the east coast.

No way does Grandstaff come to ISU. I'm putting my eggs in the Michigan basket. I think he sees his game as being very similar to Stauskas'. Plus, it's a name school. His handler, er, dad seems to want to land a big name school for himself. I mean son. For Austin.

Only way he starts is if McKay can't get that waiver. Both McKay and Nader would have started over him this year had they been eligible. Hogues best shot would be over Niang, which won't happen.

Not necessarily. Nader isn't as athletic/explosive as Hogue. I doubt Nader is a better rebounder than Hogue who is second in the Big XII. Hogue will also improve in the off-season, though all players will. Without Hogue, who is going to carry the rebounding load, especially with Melvin gone, Niang? I think Hogue starts, especially if McKay isn't eligible.

And without Kane. Could our rebounding be even worse next year? We may get killed on the boards first semester.

I think Marvin Clark is K-State's to lose. And I wouldn't be surprised if Grandstaff ends up at a blue-blood school such as Duke.

Hot rumors this week are that Grandstaff is seriously considering SMU....contrary to helicopter dad's opinion of a blue blood.

I'm thinking the biggest competition for him this time around will be Duke and SMU.

I don't think we will get Grandstaff, to be honest. He opened up his recruitment thinking that he could go to a better school. Even though almost everyone on here feels that we are better than Okie State (which we are), when they brought in Marcus Smart it was a huge boost for their recruiting. We're still a year or two away from being able to pull in 5 stars (and some four stars). Grandstaff will probably want to go to Duke, SMU (who has Larry Brown as their coach), UNC, or a school like Syracuse. I highly doubt we get the guy, but would obviously be thrilled to land him.

I disagree. Hogue is a great rebounder, but his offense isn't nearly as good as Nader's. To me, he is the perfect player off the bench for ISU as the energy guy. As far as rebounding goes, Nader will pull his weight. He is taller and has a 7' wingspan. He doesn't focus solely on rebounds because he has more attributes. With the exception of a couple rebounds and defending athletic wings, I am betting Nader is better in virtually every other category. I actually think they will be the perfect offset for each other. Who ever has the task of guarding them will have to adapt to completely different playing styles.

SMU is proving to be expert recruiters. Or up to old tricks again :P

Can you elaborate on the helicopter dad comment? Is his dad a rich snob or something?

He very well may be but that isn't the issue. His Dad is highly involved in AAU (coaching, tournament director) and in his son's recruitment. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it certainly is the case.

Larry Brown might be the best coach that ever lived. He is going to get some players as long as he is there.

Seeing SMU's rapid rise in recruiting makes missing out on that 5* sting even more.

Yep, hoping a big program comes calling and SMU goes away again. Rather lose a guy to say UCLA than SMU. Especially considering we would still lose some guys to a UCLA regardless of coach. SMU is just another program pulling guys from the pool.

Lol at the poster that says Fred needs to get more bigs next year.

Nader, Niang, Hogue, McKay, and likely Malou. I think we're set on bigs. Just need an SF and an SG.
