Recruit Lists v2.0

Is Malou in addition to Cunningham and Vaughn or would he be replacing Cunningham? I really have no idea where we stand on scholarships right now.

There would be only 2 left for those 3 I believe, but that doesn't mean much.

My guess is if we get Malou we wouldn't be after Cunningham anymore but who knows

Currently 2 scholarships available for next year... It shouldn't just be assumed the staff is only looking at these three (though Vaughn is the top priority) and won't focus on someone who suddenly becomes available late in the process. As history has shown lot can, and will, change by late April into May.

True.. but I don't even think it's possible to find a couple prospects more talented than RV and Malou late in the process. Maybe a big impact transfer but I would take those two guys right now with no regards to who becomes available later. Both these guys are gonna be playing in the league one day unless something crazy happens.

Potential starters
Man Man
RV
Nader
Niang
Mckay

Potential bench
Thomas
Hogue
Malou
Custer
Naz
SDW
Edozie

If that's not a potential Final Four roster.. I don't know what is.

Poor Percy. He even had a game where he didn't do horribly last week.

This team would be beast! Top 10 for sure

If Hogue averages a double / double this year, you are going to put him on the bench?

He hasn't averaged a double double for a while now but he fits the bill of the perfect energy guy off the bench. And I think people will be pleasantly surprised when they see McKay and Nader are both better than Hogue next season. Good problem to have.

Probably not. We're going to have to get rebounding from somewhere next year. We lose 2 of our best 3 rebounders (Ejim and Kane). It would be very hard to put Hogue on the bench. McKay I do think rebounds well, and we'll see about Nader.

Possibly? Remember it was after the past MBB season when CFH picked up Kane, Nader and McKay. At this time last year none were on the CF radar.

This. I certainly want RV to be a Cyclone, but realistically, do we think he would add more production than Kane did this year or Clyburn last year? Doutbful. That isn't to say there aren't intangible benefits to taking RV over a talented transfer. Obviously RV will be a 1st rounder within hist first 2 years, and that really helps in recruiting. But in terms of production, Fred can still find a replacement for him should we miss.

I have no idea who starts between Nader and Hogue, though I expect one will go to the bench at some point after McKay is eligible. That said, I actually see the same argument pointing to Nader being the guy going to the bench. Going with the Hogue as better rebounder and Nader as better offensively assumption, it could be real nice to have a nice offensive oriented player coming in off the bench. That way Niang could get some rest without losing as much offensively, and very little rebounding-wise.

If we were to get Vaughn, I think this argument becomes even stronger.

Only one was eligible to play right away.

I am FAR from assuming Malou is an NBA caliber player. Not saying he isn't, but I have absolutely zero reason to think that. His highlight videos vs. YMCA league opponents aren't enough for me at this point.

Why are people thinking Nader is going to come off the bench? There have been so many instances where coaches and players have stated that Nader is the best player that ISU has. I very highly doubt that if he's the best player, like most of the team and coaches are saying, that he comes off the bench. We're going to start two guards, Nader will DEFINITELY start, McKay will likely start once eligible (or Hogue), and Niang will be a starter as well. So the question is not who will be the 6th man between McKay and Nader. The question is who will be the first off the bench between McKay and Hogue. My best guess is McKay comes off the bench.

I could see that especially if McKay isn't eligable till semester. Might be a better chemestry thing to have him come off the bench while starting his senior year.

Even against the poor competition you can see the oozing potential that he possesses. Our front court is pretty much set for the next couple years (Niang, Hogue, Nader, Mckay) and it's going to be hard to find and convince an immediate impact transfer (mins cap) who is good enough to crack into those guys' minutes while probably only having one or two years of eligibility. Why not get a freshman who can crack the rotation and be developed and groomed under Fred? I see NBA written all over Malou, especially since he still has four years of college eligibility.

Hell, the fact that he even put his name out there in last year's draft (as a 19 yr old) shows what kind of talent he can be.

Looking good in drills or practice and being the best player when playing team ball in the Big 12 are different. IMO this is the typical message board redshirt hype.
