Recruit Lists v2.0

Something is very off on the malou deal, my gut says we aren't even recruiting him.

It's quite clear, the "off" part of the Malou thing is the fact that he faces a severe up hill battle to become eligible. He's close enough though that it's probably worth it for the coaches to stay in touch and invite him to Ames.

That way if he is cleared, we'll be way ahead of the curve.

How do you know for sure he faces an uphill battle to be elgibile? ABCD put a player D1 last year without any academic problems. I am not saying you are wrong but honestly I don't think anyone has any clue where he is at academically.

I think you are correct in that no one has a clue where he is at academically, but his prep school seems a bit sketchy. I am aware that ABCD placed a player at James Madison last year and hope Malou comes here as well. I think he would be a huge get and could be a great player. I think it is odd that none of their players have profiles, however. Kingdom Hoops Prep and Quakerdale both have websites (not that having a website makes you totally legit), and I do know that Quakerdale's players do have Rivals profiles. I am not sure about Kingdom Hoops. ABCD did have a website and then their schedule disappeared, and now their website has disappeared. Maybe it isn't that big of a deal and I do know that many of you know a lot more about basketball recruiting than I do. Maybe there is a lot of red tape for a rivals profile.

He's foreign, at an obscure new prep school, for the 2nd year..... Not to mention that typically 6'9" players of his athleticism are more highly recruited. 2 + 2 for me least says he's got some huge hurdles to clear academically. Of course I don't know for sure, but that's a reasonable guess, IMO.

Obviously you're very sensitive if you think what I said is negative.

What I said is not even related to the team. I'm fine with this team. We're out of the B12 race, but if we beat KSU, we can easily get back on track and hold our own destiny to get a 6-seed or better. Stay in the 4-6 range in the seeding, and you can go far.

Frankly, I don't think anything that I said is negative, or untrue. I just often see the word "pipeline" thrown around with Minnesota, which is silly. We're working towards that, but it's all fiction at this point. If it turns out that Pitino is a good one for them, it will be harder than it has been recently, however if we land RV, then you have to think that carries some weight.

Two (maybe three if KU wins the next one) games out of first with thirteen games to go is out of the race? Yep, that is negative.

Cheick Diallo update, not too much new though he appears to be refining his game and the offers are reflecting that.
Diallo beastly in loss
Our Savior New American took a tough loss to La Lumiere. But, it wasn't for lack of effort on the part of their star big man Cheick Diallo. The No. 8 player in the class of 2015 was outstanding in every aspect during a 18 point, 17 rebound and 10 block effort.
A 6-foot-9 center who plays with what seems to be an unlimited supply of energy, Diallo is active, physical and tough on both ends of the floor. In the open floor he is a long strider who runs like a sprinter and around the rim he is quick off his feet. His offense is primarily dunks and short turnarounds, but his footwork and touch are both improving.
Not surprisingly, the five-star prospect is emerging as a major target of big time programs. UConn, Kansas, St. John's, Arizona, Iowa State, Kentucky, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, Syracuse, Rutgers, Washington, West Virginia and many more are giving chase at one level or another.

Don't have time to look through the whole thread, but where do people think we stand with Illikainen, or are we even going hard after him anymore? Just had an interesting conversation with my boss about him.

Travis Hines tweets a lot that we are watching him at games.
