Not usually. SDW was an ideal scenario considering our depth at guard, his physical stature, and maturity/lack of ego.

Cunningham is #80 and has plenty of options. I would love to be able to redshirt someone of his talent due to depth, but developmental redshirts are a red flag to me. If he comes here, he will challenge for minutes. We're not exactly stacked in the frontcourt.

I've obviously never been a part of the the recruiting process, but do coaches really promise kids minutes? I realize there are different situations depending on a teams roster, but I don't think I would trust a coach that promised me I could play right away. I think every recruit would like to play right away, I'd rather have the one that wants to work to earn his spot rather than have it given to him from day one.

I think promises of minutes are rare but kids can look at a roster and do the math.
