I would be interested in knowing how many of those drops were free accounts through promotions from mobile providers. I am willing to bet that a lot of the streaming numbers are inflated by promotions.

This is very interesting if true. Does ND want to actually join the ACC? Do they perceive it as being easier than joining B1G? Do they just want to schedule Stanford as an opponent instead of other ACC schools as part of their agreement? Why would FSU or Clemson put these new schools in or listen to ND? I can’t believe the ACC schools that other conf would want would agree to expand. Can’t believe the networks would give a full share to Stan and Cal. The one thing I do believe is that the SMU donors have been consistent. We WILL ***** ourself to any conference and take no money for 5 years.

I think the Big10 can manage the issue much easier.
- ESPN isn't part of Big10 media deal. So Saturday After Dark (7:30PT kickoff) window doesn't come into play.
- Big10 will have 4 teams that are located in PT. So if USC/UCLA/OR/WA are protected rivals a third of each West Coach school's games will be in same TZ. With ACC it would be 1 of 8(or 9) games.
- Its a subtle difference between Big10 & ACC, but Big10 has 6 CT teams that it can schedule a 7pm PT start and games will be over shortly after midnight CT.

Sounds like ND is protecting their independent FB status in case FSU or Clemson would leave ACC. Heck, it would probably make ND's road to the CFP easier as the ACC portion of their schedule wouldn't include FSU or Clemson.
In SMU's case, they can afford to take $0 for the first 6 years because the CFP money. Currently, SMU makes less than $10M in AAC and CFP money annually. Starting in 2026 if they are in a P4 conference the playoff money will likely be over $20M.

Feels like with their TV ratings that they should have been able to make a stronger case than they have.
That would suck, but such is life as a geographical outlier. FWIW, Oklahoma State could go with the leftovers instead of Iowa State, as ISU is an original Big 6 team along with KU and K-State, Colorado was the 7th member and Oklahoma State was the 8th member of what became the Big 8 in 1961 or so.
Just put Houston in the leftovers…because they are. Put OSU in the Texas pod because they want that. We were big8 more than they were.

I ******* hate pod talk (just picking some protected rivalries would probably be better), but if we had to do it this makes more sense to me:

UA\ASU\UU\BYU (mountain pod)
Baylor\OSU\Tech\TCU (big 12 south pod)
UH\UCF\UC\WVU (eastern pod)

It's even weirder because legend has it that they all use the same mason jar and pass it around until it is full.
This just shows that conference is not united and the big brands (not just FSU) are looking for a way out. If they were truly committed to the ACC long-term, they would vote in Cal and Stan to secure more strength in numbers.
Here's one (of many) problems with the "Superleague". For one, you'll shrink viewership by consolidating too much. The dedicated college football fans I know watch a lot more than just their own favorite team. If most of the ACC, Big XII, some of the B1G & SEC, rest of the PAC and all others are relegated, I don't see how that translates to more viewership. Less viewership means less TV money.
And then you have an inventory problem with fewer games of interest to broadcast. And you'd also have too many repeat matchups.
Currently the B1G's looking at acing divisions. In that scenario, TOSU & Mich could potentially play 3 times in a season if both make the B1G Champ Game and the playoff. That'd be just diluting the rivalry.
