Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

So suddenly the answer is to combine both conferences that none of the networks want to give money too. Ok.

The combined conference would get money. This is a pretty decent lineup at the top.

Oregon
Washington
FSU
UNC
Duke
Virginia
Clemson
Arizona
Pitt
Miami

This all just seems like desperation chaos

For about 6-7 years, then they lose 6-8 of those brands and are saddled with some programs that don’t have college sports fans.

Yeah, and thats mostly ACC teams. Why would ESPN open up the grant of rights and have to pay everybody that much more money when they've got the majority of those teams locked down at a discounted rate?

The question is how do they get more money together than they’ve been offered separately already? How are ESPN/FOX/whoever going to magically increase their payouts for teams they already hold the rights to on the cheap?

Makes sense.

Washington: We don’t want to join the B1G, travel would be too expensive. Let’s merge with the ACC instead!

Wouldn’t a merger open up the ACC GOR? Why would FSU/Clemson stick around if that were the case? Where’s the TV money coming from?
Yeah, I don't see how a merger happens. You have TV networks already not wanting to pay for the PAC, but hey, let's merge them all into the ACC and pay them more than we'd have to now?

You would have to open up the contract and the GOR to get something like that done. As soon as there is a window in the GOR, FSU is gone, plus a couple others.

This is a day I need to quit being on Cyclone fanatic for 6 hours, then logging back on and see what happened
There are definitely times when a couple of hours away from this thread provides more than enough bathroom reading material, which is fitting.
