Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

View attachment 113149

Seeing this being floated by PAC fans since the news about the Magnificent 7 started. It would certainly put them the #3 conference, but leaves us Pitt/Louisville and leaves us our options with Duke, Syracuse, Wake, Boston, Wazzu, OreSt, and the top Group of 5s. I'd still be very happy with our conference.
Lol, if FSU, Miami and Clemson find a way out of the ACC, they aren’t doing it to merge with any PAC 12 teams.

It seems like a lot of work to get out of arguably the 3rd best conference in order to form a brand new conference that’s…arguably 3rd best.

The lawsuits from the ACC teams left out would be fun at least. If the ACC were also at the end of their TV deal, then I guess I could see it. But if Clemson has the option to join a merged conference, wouldn't they also have the chance to join the SEC?

Which would be a fantastic move. Clemson and FSU saying they'd join this merger to get enough ACC teams to vote to disband only to sign with the SEC once the vote is done.

A plan to merge part of the ACC with the part of PAC would face all the same legal problems as joining the SEC or B10, but with less payoff.

This plan might be a good way to generate more lawsuits, though! In addition to the left behind schools, the PAACC schools they double crossed could sue them as well!

I just don’t see the attraction to any of these pac schools, there is a reason nobody wants to pay for it.

Yeah, we are trying to get the 4 corner schools but really only 1 has decent attendance (butts at games) and that is Utah. Other ones that would fill up the stadiums like the Big 12 does is Oregon and Washington. I'll still take the 4 corner schools to weaken the Pac and other reasons.

Yeah, this is a conference that can't get a TV deal done because of low fan interest, and the top 2 schools from this dumpster fire in UW and Oregon aren't on the table for us. I can't see taking more than 2 from the Pac, they just don't draw eyeballs and they are a big travel burden.

I mean … they aren’t going to be able to lock out Wazzu and OreSt. Plus half that list of ACC schools want to be in the Big or the SEC.

I have no concerns of adding the 4 corner schools. Utah is solid and Deon's hiring has CU fans energized. Arizona hired a solid coach a few years ago and I feel they are trending up and will make a bowl this year. No way is ASU a bad add. Phoenix is a top 10 city population wise. I also feel by joining the Big12, the energy that Big12 fans bring to their programs will be contagious for the 4 corner schools.

The travel cost issue would be non-existent, especially if we add the 4 corner schools to compliment BYU. Also the flight times between the 4 corner schools and Big12 schools along the I-35 corridor is no longer than flights to Washington & Oregon schools.

Trouble in B1G land?

Crazy to think the Big10 deal takes effect in 40 days and they are still hammering out details.

Easy work around on the November night games is to add Oregon/Washington. My guess is west coast teams don't have an issue playing November prime time national TV games. But if the contract is in such chaos and schools are set to lose $5M annually from the originally announced $62.5M figure, does that delay adding Oregon/Washington until 2031?

Heck, maybe Big10 should add Colorado. Marketing GOLD- Prime in Primetime!! I am sure Deon will gladly do the promos.
