Yeah, agreed. I was just noting the reasons all the teams left that, which coincidentally were not related to academics.
Big 10 has massive enrollment and fan bases. Every school is over 40k enrollment except 3, Iowa, NW, Nebby.
Academics are things that university administrators like to talk about. But otherwise, they mean nothing in athletics.
You would think that those Alumni would be tired of watching the mediocrity their beloved B1G teams put out despite the huge money they are paid. Talk about underachieving.7 (soon to be 8) of the Top 10 largest alumni networks in the country are Big Ten schools.

Big 10 people are weird when it comes to that. As long as Ohio St. is good, the whole conference is good. I’m constantly being told about THE BIG being in the playoffs for X amount of years, with no mention of how it’s basically Ohio St and no one else. And they have this idea that because their conference makes the most money, it’s the best conference. I’ve actually compared the B1G to UT to them. The conference basically prints money, so, there is no need to actually be good at anything. They are basically spoiled with the influx of cash.
The other thing they love to tout, is the amount of Big 10 teams that play in New Year bowls. Like that still means what it did 30 years ago.
Put the ACC in there too. They have been dog crap for years, minus Clemson. Media don't hammer them much.

The ACC is kind of getting paid that way though, unlike the Big 10. But, I do see your point.

FSU can complain all it wants, they're locked in. ACC doesn't have to do squat to appease them.
Fascinating. The only web site I wasn't able to cut and paste from. Regardless, this is where their research began : "Then, we researched alum networks at the 50 most prominent U.S. schools on the list." Am I the only one who sees this as ambiguous, selective, and falsely influenced? 'Largest enrollment': so, we're to assume this is what 'prominent' means. 'Prominent': by what measure? 'researched': by what measures? It's nice to boast, but this, like most 'fact-checkers' which I've researched are fraught with so many flaws it defies being non-biased. The ACC really has 2 options here:
Option 1: Give FSU extra money out of other ACC members’ pockets. FSU stays in the ACC for at least another 10 years before buying out the rest of the GOR and bolting for the B10/SEC.
Option 2: Do nothing. FSU stays in the ACC for at least another 10 years before buying out the rest of the GOR and bolting for the B10/SEC.
FSU has zero leverage here. If they can’t find a way around the GOR, the ACC has no reason to give into their demands. If they could find a way around the GOR, there’s no unequal revenue deal that would keep them in the ACC. That goes for Miami, Clemson, UNC, etc. Either way, they’re leaving in 10-13 years.
Agree, FSU will bolt for the SEC the first chance it gets. Makes no sense to bend to their "demands" knowing that they're leaving whether you do or you don't.
You're grasping at straws to debate a point that really isn't up for debate. The Big Ten is full of giant public, R1 research institutions that produce tons of wealthy alumni that TV networks and their advertisers covet.
Saying but, but, but Northwestern (who also produces wealthy alumni, though in smaller numbers) doesn't at all prove your point.
You're right. But it's annoying that most Big 10 fans equate that with actually having a good team.
Oh you're absolutely right.
The problem becomes the hardcores can't listen to reason whenever you point out the truth and the super casuals, who only pay attention when their particular school is good, don't understand anything other than 'big school must equal big success'.
It's a total no-win for everybody else.
