Perhaps the more likely angle is to kill the Pac as a future competitor. But maybe that isn't necessary either. With USC and UCLA gone and no great expansion candidates, maybe the are so wounded already that they won't ever be a threat to the B12.

I'd rather make sure they are killed. Big 12 has been wounded many times and has come back.

I'd like to take CU, AZ, ASU, and San Diego State (assume Oregon/Wash not available). San Diego State over Utah to give California presence and the fact Utah has been the biggest Big 12 basher out there. Plus, the con for CU, AZ, and ASU going to the Big 12 is that they have a lot of alumni on the West Coast, particularly the LA area and San Diego State helps address this a little bit.

Longer term risk—expansion does create more “mouths to feed”. I believe BY’s (or the next commissioner) career willl be judged by the next media deal the big 12 gets, not the one we just got.

Even before the next media deal, Yormark will be measured by new revenue sources he creates for Big12 schools. In recent days he has discussed Big12 Mexico and a concert series on Big12 campuses. He is pushing to add Gonzaga (and likely other non-FB Schools) to enhance basketball revenue, a Big12 NFL combine and summer basketball program at Rucker Park.

Some of his ideas are more awareness/promotional for Big12 Conference. But can he generate $5M, $10, etc. annually per school from non-traditional revenue streams?

Just guessing, but I would guess that will go the way of CyTV. I would guess they were required to move to ESPN+ etc with the new contract.

Maybe they will have it for the first year until the new contract starts, but I doubt they will after that.

It will probably have similar content that CyTV has now, plus some of their other religious and University programming etc.

Guessing this is some sort of ambulance chasing lawyer alumni that's telling the AD that they have this master plan to get them out of the contract. Then the real lawyers ee the plan and plug a bit of reality into the situation.

I think there is some truth to this. The Pac still doesn't have a TV deal presumably because the offers suck. The offers suck because their teams don't draw. The 4 corners schools are the middle of the pack in conference as far as value. So how much money could the B12 make by acquiring mid tier schools from a conference worth significantly less than our own? Maybe that doesn't make us any money at all.

It has been pretty well established that the PAC was offered the same deal from ESPN/FOX that the B12 eventually took, but passed because Kliavkoff thought they could negotiate for more money, and Yormark saw the opportunity to jump the line. The PAC schools are worth about as much as the B12 schools, they just have much more incompetent leadership.

No, their arrogance is getting in the way. The thought among these administrators is that the instability of the big 12 the past decade makes it the worst conference, and no way the Pac 12 could be struggling as much as the Big12.
