Low but growing and may never catch up. At one point only having AZ/ASU/CU for entire time zone was under represented. With Utah being fastest growing state and no NFL competition, current 5 major conference teams in that time zone is probably correct vs 3 it had a decade ago.
I think Big Ten doesn't bother with it but having those 5 in our league that is struggling to keep up and outflank future weakened ACC probably helps.
Australia is the same way globally, just started growing long after modern countries and even long after US and Canada, only 25 million people on the entire continent.
I love Aus but that continent can't support a ton of people. The coasts are beautiful but the interior is the outback for a reason.
PAC 12 has just lost their 2 biggest draws. The next 2 Washington and Oregon have applied for Big Ten membership. Stanford and Cal are in shock. PAC 12 is doomed. They know it. Oregon State and Washington State are dead weight. They know it. Arizona Schools know the Big 12 is their only shot. CU and Utah the same. No one is going to join the PAC 12. Who wants to hop on that sinking ship?
Don't get me wrong. All those teams make sense for the Big 12. But the Big 10 has a presence in the central and Eastern time zone, and those are biggest by far. The eastern has 47.6% and the central 29.1%. 3/4 people in the US live East of the Rockies.
Also in terms of percentage growth, starting with a smaller number makes the percentage look big. Texas and Florida added more people than any other state according to the 2020 census.

Reported all over that they were eyeing the Big Ten. It is inevitable.
That's the next step. Those two staying could salvage the conference, but that all depends on the new media deal. It has to be better or those two wont be there. PAC12 commissioner is officially the worst job in the country today.
At this point, at best, they've probably made the phone call.
I'm sure they have reached out, but it takes two to tango. What if the Big 10 said not at this time? Again, I haven't seen anything of any substance that Oregon and Washington to the Big 10 is going to happen. Wouldn't shock me if it did happen though.
Already in contract discussions with the BIG network. Actually, that would be a significant upgrade to the current BIG network talent pool...

Diving into forums across the country is fun right now. Wazzu playing out all the scenarios where they aren't screwed, without acknowledging its a possibility. Zona St laughing at WSU, OSU, and lumping in rival Zona as they won't land anywhere, acknowledging they likely won't make the B1G. Some want a revamped PAC and some want Big12. B1G fans wondering who they're grabbing next. One interesting option was doing the anti SEC and grabbing blueblood basketball UNC/Duke/Kansas. Florida State fans trying to figure out how they get out of the GOR and land safely in the SEC despite Florida. NC St fans acknowledge ACC's time is limited hoping for SEC landing spot. What a soap opera!?!?!
But what would your match-ups between new Big12 and Pac12 without OR & UW look like?
There is a lot of parity among the new Big12 members and Pac12 x OR, UW, Or State & WSU.
Not saying I don't want Oregon & Washington- they would obviously be 1/2 in a Big12/Pac12 merger. But not the gap that UT & OU had over the rest of Big12.
