B1G twitter is essentially saying they took two to ratchet up pressure on Notre Dame. It's a pause while they let Notre Dame think about being left out of the two super-conferences.

Yeah, what Oregon and Washington do will determine the fate of the P12. If those two are gone the thing implodes. If they stay then I think you could see the P12 hold together
Does anyone have any estimates on what ND brings in on their own from football + what they get from their ACC tie? I have to think it’s more than 100 million.
I think people bring it up as a consolation prize.
As in, even though we’ve had three $hi+storm rounds of realignment we keep emerging as the best basketball conference.
I really can’t see how this round does anything but help us. KU and OKstate and byu are gonna leave for Pac? I highly doubt it and those are the teams they’d most want, maybe a Texas team. Yeah I said byu, academics and religion are out the window when it comes to survival.
At this point if any of our teams were high priority targets of power 2, they’d be gone.

If we could "offer", they wouldn't accept (YET). We can't offer without an inquiry and application from them so point is moot until someone else leaves from the PAC to the B10 or SEC.

Again, how much does brand names and flagship status matter when those same schools are being out drawn in attendance by half the B12 teams? They are also on the West coast with horrible TV rating except for Oregon. Are there really that many more people really that excited about Cal/ Washington as opposed to ISU/OSU?
Didn't the projected numbers disagree with this? And that was with LA in the mix.
This is all driven by fox and espn worried about Apple and the other tech companies snapping up the best college football properties. Apple probably didn't want to pay the PAC 12 what USC demanded and they bolted. This upheaval benefits Apple. They can snap up some pretty good properties below what Fox and Espn have to pay the nobodies to get the blue bloods. Apple might not be interested in college sports. But If they are, they have several options, including potentially Oregon, Washington the Big 12, what remains of the PAc 12. Plus, they have the money to buy the GOR to get Clemson,, FSU. Virginia, North Carolina, Duke and form a third super conference that has solid football schools, along with the best basketball teams. What the remaining teams have to consider is what is best for the long term may not seem the best in the short term. If I was the remaining schools I would untethered myself from network and cable TV as fast as I can. It may cost you financially for the next 10 years, but let us see in 12 years when the SEC contract with ESPN comes up if the power 2 regrets the path they chose.
Do more people watch PAC football than Big 12 football? I find that hard to believe.
I watch PAC games, and the stadiums are usually like a third full. Nobody cares out there it looks like to me. I probably wouldn't watch any football either if I lived out there and there was like a million other things better to do with my time.
He may be right. However, the Pac 12 is a mess and has terrible TV future without it's two big dogs.
There's no way this over. The big question is what is the end number for the SEC & BIG? 18, 20, 24? I still think with everything moving south that the SEC is and will be the best overall sports conference but picking up 2 CA schools was a huge move by the BIG.
They have brands, but they don’t have the stable structure any longer. I want to know more about George Kliavkoff now, because the dude just got pantsed worse than Bowsbly with an added knife in the back.
Hope the BIG 12 gets some of the schools from the PAC 12, would be good to have a west coast presence.
I think BB got his butt saved by JP, hocutt and the like. We had ADs that had weathered this before and they did the heavy lifting. I think the PAC 12 was caught flat footed.
He may be right, or it also could be more propaganda from a Big 10 homer, trying to sell the message to the Pac 12 schools to sit tight, why we figure out what ND and and the ACC schools are going to do.
The two have conferences the B10 and SEC can sit tight and wait, the ACC may have no choice but to sit tight with their GOR deal, but that is not true with the schools in the B12 and Pac 12.
Funny thing, I said last year, that the Pac 12 should have expanded then and tried to take the best schools from the B12, because if they sat tight and did nothing, that they were going to lose USC to the B10. They believed the other conferences would stay true to their word, which was a mistake.
Now it the time to destroy the Pac 12, offer CU and UU today, do it back channel and once they ask to join, take them, make the Pac 12 unstable, forcing the name brand schools to decide.
