Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Love it! At some point in the game ADs/Schools are just going to go for maximum chaos to try and blow everything up. Create untenable situations.
UNC on board is pretty big I think relative to how they’re viewed in the conference.

Isn't that what message boards are for? At least it's mostly civil discourse.

Mostly.....but I'm ready to spring to mother ******* uncivil **** when the time comes.

Mega conference vibe is growing stronger. Players as employees and on the payroll. Maybe schools licensing out their brand and spinning teams off into their own businesses.

Brave New World

Hmmm.... temors coming from the ACC big dogs. Perhaps the Big 12 should consider taking only a couple of PAC teams for now so they can have space to add a few ACC teams in the future?

Come on. Unequal revenue sharing has a long history of working for a conference.

The Big 12 was built on a rock solid foundation of unequal wealth and it's given us stability that all envy.

No chance these teams will rush to the door ASAP.....no matter what concessions are made

LEVERAGE BABY

That also jacks up the "prisoners dilemma" pressure on the M4 by about 1000x. If you were say, ASU, and thought there was no time pressure, because Big12 probably want 4 teams to go to 16 anyway; well now the Big12 might not need 4. Now it might be only room for 2 in the lifeboat.

The Big12 hung together, and the PAC still might too. But there was no better option out there for any of the left-behinds. There wasn't even a roughly equal option, for any school. But for at least some of the PAC there is an option that is at least roughly equal.

If the Big 10 and SEC go to 20, the Big 12 will have its pick of an additional 4. In that situation, it seems like Louisville would be a good addition for the basketball inventory as well as football.

College basketball is in such a better place than football... The parity is amazing. Revenue and TV contracts just don't matter like they do in football

From a fiscal standpoint, I'd rather be a football power than a basketball contender. But there is a 0.1% chance of us every being a power in football. However, we are already a top 30 basketball program with a top 10 recruiting class, young coach, fan support, famous arena, proven NBA path to success, and facilities to compete with 99% of the sport.

It was honestly a fantastic listen.

Arizona Locked On Podcast host thinks Arizona will wind up in the Big 12.

He doesn't see how the PAC can put together a medial deal that's anything comparable to the Big 12s.

He says that Kliavkoff is a talker, while Yormark is a doer.

Arizona guy talks up basketball big time and is excited by the sport's potential in the Big 12

He backs up a lot of Jason Scheer's talking points, with a healthy amount of Jon Canzano bashing.

Meanwhile, the ACC honchos who know they have UNC locked up for another decade and realize the school will likely bolt the conference at the first opportunity anyways...

Think it would only cost UNC around 250 million to get out of the GOR. After litigation call it 200 million. Get in to Big Ten at an immediate full share and I don’t think that looks crazy.

That ACC TV deal was so foolish. They basically paid ESPN in reduced earnings the bulk of costs to develop them a dedicated TV network with no ownership or potential to profit from it until the deal comes around again in 2036. They are going to be so far behind that the entire conference should be trying to figure a way to break that deal, but who would make one with them if they did?

There’s always been this persistent rumor/hype around UVA and UNC to the Big Ten. So much so that there is probably something to it. Those two schools are rich. The Big Ten is rich. Personally I don’t think it would be that big of a deal for them to tell the ACC GOR to **** off and write them a check and join the Big 10.
