Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

They just dont get it.

It’s not that the big 12 has better history or prestige or academics or any other of those things that don’t matter at all in the TV deal. They have a better product on the field/court and better fan bases which matter immensely to the TV deal.

Also… I can’t think of a more flyover/truck stop State than Utah.

I think a lot of those comes from their fans just not understanding realignment. Big12 fans (not all) have become very educated on realignment and what is valuable for a media deal. These pac12 fans sound like idiots because they legit don’t know what they are talking about.

It's wild at me that the same people who bash our universities will also argue that the schools we passed up like SMU, San Diego State, and Colorado State will somehow be their saviors.

So funny to me that a guy sitting in Utah is using "flyover state" as a pejorative. SLC is like 800 miles to San Francisco and further to Los Angeles.

I get your point but your view comes from being in a conference in a constant state of disfunction. No SEC fan is worried about OUT for the exact same reason I’m not worried about the LA school.
Lol, SEC better be concerned about Texas. They are a conference killer. USC killed the PAC, not by leaving but by killing their expansion/merger with the big 12. They show Texas tendencies.

Texas killed conferences because the SWC wasn't a big kid conference without them and they knew it. And up until we finally saw the TV deals after they left we thought the B12 wasn't going to be okay without them either. The SEC knows they are an 800 pound gorilla with or without UT.

It’s great because they NEVER thought it would be them. The ultimate “how did it come to this?” look back.

The PAC has been fairly insulated from the conference stuff.

If I'm a casual fan I'd probably look around and think the PAC is a much bigger fish in the pond. Seattle, SF, Phoenix, Denver vs. Ames, Manhattan, Lubbock, Waco seems like a mismatch.

But dig just a little deeper and those smaller markets have a much greater connection to the schools and teams.

PAC fan isn't seeing it. The folks at the networks cutting the checks....they get it.

Cowherd made some comments on Oregon and Washington to the B1G yesterday and it caught the attention of both Scheer and Geoff Schwartz. B1G is “considering bringing Oregon and Washington in but they would not get the economic benefit of the other schools- they would get half of it.”

Wonder if that would be permanent, or if they’d slowly get to equal revenue sharing like Nebraska, Rutgers, and Maryland?
