Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

You don't want to have the Big 12 out of the Eastern time zone, that would be bad. Even if just some casual viewers watch, you need that. Huge population in the Eastern time zone.
Don't dog on WVU, their numbers are pretty darn good. They are probably near the top for the new look Big 12. You want to keep them.

If we can, get Utah, Colorado, Oregon and Washington. Go four more and take Arizona, Stanford and sniff the ACC. (Just thinking out loud, haven't though of all scenarios.)

From a media dollars standpoint I don’t know if they have much value but they are premier academic institutions. Stanford is a much bigger brand in my opinion the cal
Stanford is a monster in collegiate athletics and academics, just depends on how much that matters.

Just catching up…

1 - Those that are gleefully laughing that this isn’t the Big 12 don’t realize this is just one more domino in a long chain. While I don’t see most, if any, of the Big 12 being a poaching target for any potential super leagues, we also aren’t going to be able to remain stationary and may already be a little flat footed. ACC and Pac 12 won’t die quietly without every effort.

2 - To those that think we never should have added the 4 we just did – remember that we didn’t know the future, and it was incredibly vital for any stability. Not sure the remaining 8 could have stayed together without immediate stability.

3 - Personally, and I said it with the last round when many thought it was a possibility and our goal – I have never liked the idea of us joining the Big 10 now or ever. This will only make that clearer.

We compete much better with mid-tier programs and are better off trying to fight each year in that realm than keeping pace with Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. In order to stay relevant, we need to stay competitive with strong peers, and a/the new-look Big 12 was always the best case for that. Let the Big 10 and SEC live in their ivory tower and the rest of us can keep enjoying a competitive playing field.

4 - And to those that think Land Grant means anything in athletic affiliation… it means as much as AAU status – absolutely nothing.
You could argue that one possibility is that the Big 12, Pac 12 and ACC all service. If that happens, then the Big 12 will look like geniuses picking up some of the best fill ins available.

I think Oregon & Washington are going to end up in the B1G. If I was the Big 12 I'd go for the 2 Arizona schools, Utah & Colorado. Good 16 team conference.

Cal, Stanford, Oregon State & Washington State...you are on your own.
16 teams and wait and see what is left to gobble up after the ACC gets raided. lousville, and pitt would be great adds.

The way this seems to be shaking out, I don't think there will be a third superconference.
Yeah bad wording. 3rd in the pecking order (whatever that means). Better than trying to pick up current teams from lower conferences to make a survivable conference.

I would love some road trips out west to see the Cyclones. Beautiful part of the country. Would much rather travel to Boulder (again), SLC, Seattle, Tucson than go to Lubbock or Stillwater.

I drove by all 3 Utah fbs stadiums last year on my way to Grand Teton nat park. Incredible area unless you hate being outside.

Stanford, vandy and nw would all make sense retreating from this pro sports era, but nobody is gonna turn down cash.

U of Chicago would still be full Big Ten member in all sports if the cash had been similar back then.
I don't think Stanford and Cal can take the ego hit of having to 'move down'. They can go Ivy to save face and Stanford can continue to be a powerhouse in all the sports that they're already elite at while cashing in on even more research dollars than they already do.

Completely agree on Northwestern and Vandy.

Hopefully the B12 office and the AD's are calling the other 10 ADs in the Pac12 asking what are they thinking. Get them in case the ACC talks to the more eastern B12 schools.

As a more prolific basketball fan than football fan I welcome our new ACC overlords. Take KU too and that would be amazing.
