Correct, unless Congress steps in.It is a good proposal but it isn't quite that simple. For example, there would probably be no legal basis to end NIL, which courts have ruled is an individual right of the athlete and not something that means it probably could not be collectively bargained.
You might do away with these collectives via an agreement to pay players at some point, but product endorsements and things of that type are here to stay.
There is a lot of good ideas here. On 365 sports, the former Fox CEO said right now the problem is matchups and college football need to take a cue from the NFL and try to get something started that would allow for a "Saturday Ticket", like the "Sunday Ticket."I really liked the idea that the UCLA coach was talking what they should do.
1. Break off football from the rest of sports.
2. Hire a commissioner to run the new super league that is forming.
3. Take the top 64 teams and form 8 divisions with 8 teams each, following geography as a guide.
4. Each team plays 7 games in their division, and then another 4 against another division. So, the West Coast teams play the teams from the Midwest for a 2-year cycle, then maybe the Great Lakes schools for the next 2-year cycle.
5. Each team would have one game per year to play a G5 school or someone like UNI.
6. Players get a split of the money, no more NIL, everyone gets an equal share of the TV contract and no more.
It will be settled, and FSU will exit. Maryland sued the ACC, and ACC countersued in 2014. They settled, and Maryland went to the Big 10. That's all FSU is hoping for, with larger stakes.

Times are a little different, also not sure if FSU has a safe landing place where they would get a full share. Rumors are that the big ten presidents are done with expansion until the PAC teams get settled. The SEC will have a couple schools fight to keep them out and ESPN might not agree to match the addition since they were already getting the product at a discount. It will be settled, and FSU will exit. You can already watch all the games though, that’s the whole point of Sunday ticket is it gets you the out of area games. There is a lot of good ideas here. I think the SEC takes FSU if only to keep the BiG out of their region.Times are a little different, also not sure if FSU has a safe landing place where they would get a full share. I think part of the reason Red Zone works so well in the NFL is because all the fantasy football. You can already watch all the games though, that’s the whole point of Sunday ticket is it gets you the out of area games.
What they need is something like redzone
Virginia Tech has been on the outside for most of their history. A Southern Independent at the lower end of the totem pole, then the Big East, and finally the ACC as their high water mark. When I was a kid in the 70s, Virginia Tech (V.P.I.) was one of Alabama's gimme games the Tide played. It was an embarrassing OOC game. All of the games but one (1969 @ Blacksburg) were played in Birmingham or Tuscaloosa.LOL. That is a bold take coming from VT. A school which will need to be anchored to Virginia in order to get into any other conference besides the Big 12 should the ACC explode.
Right you can already watch all the games and most games with regular cable (or equivalent), that's why theyYou can already watch all the games though, that’s the whole point of Sunday ticket is it gets you the out of area games.

need the Saturday ticket. So they can monetize it even more. If it's not in your market, you have to pay for it, out the nose.

Oh really?! so NFL fans can watch games out of their market?.. NO they can't, they have to have the Sunday ticket, and its not cheap. The idea is to do the same for college, if you want to make sure you can watch your favorite team, and they could be out of your market, you'd have to buy the Saturday ticket for the season. MORE $$$ What are you not getting? That’s not the way that works

I think the point is that as these contracts expire you retain those TV rights rather than resign with the networks. You could then sell the pooled TV games as a streaming package rather than going through ESPN and the like. Maybe sell some games to primetime TV slots, but the key is to retain the main rights to sell directly to the consumer rather than to the networks.
I don’t know if that would bring more money, but I’m sure there are people in the industry that have looked at this and would know whether this makes financial sense or not.
Sigh, you’re not going to be able to take away the way it currently is now and lock it behind something like that. That’s why it’s different, Sunday ticket was created because you never had the ability to watch out of market games.Oh really?! so NFL fans can watch games out of their market?..
