Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Think about the basketball options....

Big 12 Tuesday 6, 8, 10 cst....say Arizona at WV, Kansas at ISU, Baylor at BYU

Then Big 12 Thursday or whatever...Arizona at Cincinnati, ok st at Houston, Baylor at Oregon

Schedule it so you play two gajes when you leave for a long road trip.

That might be worth a lot to ESPN or fox

Being spread across 3-4 time zones makes a 16 team conference team generate more useful inventory for the media partners.

I think it is more likely he is fired tonight.
Not impossible, but this is similar to Bowlsby and the end of his tenure. They would need a plan in place for who would take over. No leader could be worse then what they have. And yes, the debate about GK leading is valid.

Ya. Probably so. Someone has to steer the ship.

I would imagine they have a short list of possible interims though.

Doubtful, but it would be hilarious. They couldn't just promote someone from within his team because they would still be in the exact same position in negotiations. Would essentially have to start over from scratch while trying to piece together leadership that is capable and willing to leave their current positions for a sinking ship.

I just meant it is more likely he is fired tonight than him presenting bad numbers to the conference. Presenting a bad deal is a sure fire way to start the exodus.

They'll be thrilled because it's what they wanted so bad. I saw an X from a Utah fan today that they'd rather rejoin the MWC than Big 12...they could have the dream!
Can you imagine... going from 35M a year in AD income, down to 5M.

I would guess in the future the MWC will increase a little in income, but not right away, and for sure not that much.

Teams going from making 35M down to the MWC pay are going to go broke. They will have to cut so much.

Wild guess: maybe the 2nd mystery program referred to in an earlier tweet is Washington? Just thinking about it, and Oregon is probably the premier remaining program, and is pretty full of themselves too. Washington might be feeling like they aren't as likely to get an eventual landing spot in the Big 10, and don't want to be left with the scraps if Oregon does.

Because I am sure it fails to meet some minimum thresholds set by certain schools.
Maybe so. But I’d think you could at least say “we’re still working on it. This is our baseline”. Buy some more time.

The CU chancellor publicly saying “we need to see numbers” is as clear a signal as you can get that they’re not f’ing around anymore.

Washington State’s administration had a press conference about financials a few weeks ago and the outlook was dire.
I really feel for them. It’s going to impact other sports, the city of Pullman, you name it.
