re Barnett

Maybe I don't know anything about football, but here is what I do know. Barnett's completing about 47% of his passes and it's ten times easier to throw with the threads then without, and it takes a microsecond to spin the football to throw with the threads. And, according to you most NFL and prostyle QB's use the threads.

Again most qb's dont start in shotgun so they dont have to worry about it, he has 2.5 seconds to make decision, because its easier for you to throw it with your girl hands doesnt mean he needs it. Im questioning if this is a troll thread.

I keep looking for jimlad, but don't see him.

EDIT Wow, wouldn't it be awesome if this were the problem? Someone call Mess, tell him to at least give it a try tomorrow. I'll eat a crow, literally, if this is the issue, I will eat a crow.
Cooked I hope.

I just tossed the ball around a few times outside with and without laces...it made zero difference unless I started throwing the ball sidearm (which is a ***** without the laces).

And a microsecond? I'm sure you think all catchers in the majors throw the ball to second base across the horseshoe as well. You literally catch the ball and get it out of your hand as quickly as possible. That means you don't waste time finding the laces.

Throwing with the laces is a pretty old-school line of thinking, but the reality is that it just doesn't matter that much. And it's not any easier to throw the ball with the laces than without. I actually threw a much better ball - and more accurate ball - in high school without touching the laces at all. I found that the laces interfered with my grip and prevented me from throwing a tight spiral, so I ditched them. It's all about what the QB is comfortable with. If JB threw every pass with "perfect" hand positioning, he'd probably be about a 50% QB, which is exactly what he is now.

And for the Cam Newton folks in the thread, apparently Gus Malzahn has been teaching his QBs to throw without the laces for years now. He doesn't want them to waste time looking for the laces on quick bubble screens, slants, etc. I'd say the guy knows a little more about football than pretty much everyone on this board combined (excepting the handful of actual coaches here).

I must admit that I'm surprised that people say it was not that important for them. Made a big differece for me.

And, maybe Gus Malzahn does know more than anyone on this thread, whoever the hell he is. But, the experts on the TV show were the ones that pointed it out, and theorized that this is the reason he is so innacurate. Maybe they know what they're talking about.

Malzahn was the OC at Auburn and is now the head coach at Ark State.

I usually don't trust the so called "experts" unless it's Jon Gruden.

Well, you know what they say... those who can't play, coach. Those who can't coach, however; spew ******* uninformed crap during TV analysis segments on 24 hour sports news networks
