Re Al

Why does Brock need to leave the field for Re Al to make a contribution? Some people have no imagination. The very least he makes the defense think as a decoy. You set big plays up with that kind of a player for big moments late in the game.

You continue to let Re-Al get some experience in games like we had against ULM. Let him develop. It is possible you might throw in a wrinkle here or there on some packages. But I really don’t see too much in benching Purdy to put in Re-Al. Purdy is at a whole level above what we have had at ISU. Purdy is an absolute running threat with a deadly accurate arm. Purdy sets up lots of big plays. If you paid attention you would notice. Were you even watching the record setting performance by Purdy in just 3 quarters of play?

Way to premature in calling for a position change for Re-Al. Before the 2 new QB recruits for 2020 even set foot on Campus. The recruits are still in high school.
I think he transfers after this year, frankly. Yes, that statemeni is premature as well. Just a prediction, not a hope. I've always heard that he doesn't want to switch postions. QB is a crappy postion to be 2nd best.

What are the odds that you would be the quarterback of your recruiting class, but your school adds another one late that turns out to be this good?

A couple things here first of all at what point have you seen Purdy throw a ball that you were like man his arm strength is bad. He has a great arm and plenty strong for the NFL especially when you look at how accurate. He is one of the most accurate down field passers over the last 2 years with air yards.

Next thing about Mitchell is I like him a lot but he is a great playmaker at QB. In order to get him snaps you have to take out one of the best QBs in ISU history (to this point). The other option would be to take out Milton or jones. Re al is good but he is not a better WR at this point than those 2.

I would be ok with some gadget plays but at this point you need him as the back up QB and to not get hurt. I will never understand people calling for a backup QB after the best performance from a QB is ISU history...and it was in 3 quarters

His arm strength isn't bad, and his accuracy and touch on short and intermediate routes are excellent, but his deep ball is a little weak. The ball doesn't jump out of his hand in the way that we see from elite arms.

It's silly to voluntarily take Purdy out of the game. I'm 100% OK with bringing in Mitchell in the way we did in the Alamo Bowl. He didn't get the ball, but if I remember correctly, it did open up a nice hole on the left side for Croney. Mitchell has elite speed, and I'd like to see him get a jet sweep, toss, or bubble screen.

Check your eyes. I said Brock doesn't need to leave the field.

Wouldn’t shock me. Things just haven’t set up well for him to switch positions either. He’s pretty vital at the backup QB now.

I could be wrong, and probably am, but I think Leach had to burn a time out because he saw Re al on the field, or at least completely freaked out and had the defense confused. This is something we should be throwing in there even if there is no intention if the ball is going his way. The D has to respect his ability.

Brock has the greatest offensive game in the history of the program, one of the best in the history of the best offensive league in the country and the thread about the backup Qb has 2x the post as the thread dedicated to him. smh....

Let's face it there are some so called fans who are never happy and always want to make changes to the team. I will put my trust in our coaching staff and feel they will do what is best for the team. Go Cyclones beat the Bears!!

Re-al is a RS Freshman who is #2 QB to a great #1 QB in Purdy on a damn good team. One play away. Ask Kyle Kempt. You gotta be ready when your opportunity comes. Like Purdy was ready.

Oh, then there was the totally extraneous fact that Montana spent a lot of time handing off and passing to native Iowan Roger Craig—Breece Hall’s cousin,

Total tangent here, but Roger Craig is awesome. I was just telling my daughter yesterday about one of my favorite high school memories. The night that Roger Craig showed up to attend a basketball game I was playing in (North vs. Central). He went to Davenport Central H.S. before playing at Nebraska, and of course, the 49ers.

You apparently did not see the run against a 2nd string Sunbelt defense.

You know where players with Mitchell's speed go? Alabama. He is a deadly weapon. Use him. Everyone knows Brock is amazing. He's the reason we had so much hype along with the defense.

Remember against Washington State last year they threw him in at Reciever and Leach immediately called time out. Like they knew he was not really a receiver.

Honest question, can anyone remember the last season where the same QB started every game? It's gotta go back to Arnaud.

It may result in his talent being somewhat wasted, but Re-Al's best value to us right now is being healthy and ready as backup.

And who did Alabama offer? Brock.

(note I’m not saying Michell shouldn’t play, I’ve just wanted to throw that out there)

I think the problem we have is two different arguments on this thread. I am in no way saying take Brock out. I also don't think anyone else is saying take Brock out. They would be crazy to say that. What we or at least I am saying is use him a different way. Like Cordell Stewart was used the first few years for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
