Rasir Bolton Visiting

Yep, great recruiting.

3 tournaments in 4 years,

2 Big 12 tournament championships.

Pretty damn solid job in continuing what Hoiberg started

While i agree he has done a great job, i look forward to seeing what he can do with next year's team. 3 of the last 4 years had pretty good rosters, while one was a bad down year. Next year is more of a test as he has some talent there, but it's not a given to be a easy year.

If a 12ppg Big Ten player comes off the bench for ISU in 2019-20 it means they really found a hidden gem in one of the freshman or one of our bench players last year made huge strides this offseason.

I could see this as a lineup for sure at times...But I’m thinking we go Conditt at post and Jacobsen at the 4 with SY coming in off bench spelling either spot...I really like Conditt upside and game and think he will bust onto the scene in year 2..He’s a legit rim protector who has some skills scoring with good handles for a big..

I’d say quite a bit of talent, but short on experience. It will be a good test.

Anyone else getting a little worried about 2020 recruiting if Bolton commits as well? Signing multiple guys with multiple years of eligibility. Sure Jacobson will graduate, but is this writing on the wall for T-Lew?

Last year was quite a bit of talent and short on experience. Next year is short on experience in the backcourt, okay talent. Next year will be the first year we don't have a single top 100 player on the team in a very long time.

We will have 4 kids on the roster that are rated in Iowa State's all time 15 by 247. I know the list doesn't go real far back, but it still indicates we have some talent. We just don't have that top end guy.

I also found it interesting that Prohm had 8 of the top 15 guys on the list.

Fred's first season. Garrett and Ejim were in the 100's.

I'm not worried, but isn't Jacolby Long on that list?

There are better arguments.

There are a couple outliers, but the point is we do have some decent recruits still on the roster. For several years we benefited from our top 100 guys staying 4 years. That didn't happen following this year.

Don't care about ESPN recruiting, it's trash, everybody knows it's trash, and so I don't look at that rating.

247 composite. Zero top 100 players, and if we're counting on either of those guys to play major roles next year, then yes I'm worried.

Why is top 100 the cutoff? Why not top 125 or top 150 or top 75? We have a guy who was not top 100 that has already been showing up on draft boards. Another who was a top 20 talent before he was injured. Your requirements are strange.

Your statement was top 100 players which is an arbitrary number. I simply pointed out one service had them rated highly. Plus it really only matters how the players play next year,
Haliburton is an example of a non-100 player who if re-ranked off his freshman year would have been. Shayok wasn't a top 100 player and got honorable mention as an AA. To be fair, both Zion and Terrence would have had their ranks lowered after their Freshman year too so I understand your concern. I just don't think being a "top 100" high school player can correlate to predicting results after a couple of years, especially now in the transfer era. There is talent on the roster, regardless of high school rankings, and I trust the staff due to their track record to have it show.

Yet, Halliburton's name somehow was being mentioned on NBA draft lists. It's as if these top 100 lists aren't the ultimate predictor of talent.

Johnson's commitment may affect Blackwell's recruitment but Foster and Carlson seem to be our 2020 focus. Lewis must feel he can elevate his game by returning. If he doesn't I doubt he's back for a fourth.

I'm super pumped on Conditt! Hopefully he can gain some strength from year 1 to 2 and turn the corner.

What kinds of rankings were there on players when ISU's been decent over the past decade? Really just curious.

I don't really follow it or care all that much, as we saw last year it can take someone like Hali embracing their role and fitting what's needed to have a positive effect all over the place.

If I recall correctly LW and THT are the 2 highest ranked players we’ve ever had.
