Not sure why a lady who almost t-boned me after looking at me 3 different times waiting to turn would flip me off... I was driving up a 2 lane boulevard, in the left lane, near a school. Normal speed limit is 40mph, but school was letting out and traffic was thick so I slowed down to about 30. Nobody in front of me, I see this truck waiting to turn left out of the school driveway, which is to the right. This lady starts inching out, coming to a stop so she is blocking the right lane. I figure that she might gun it so I slow down even more, but she starts to roll out into my lane so I have to slam on the brakes and swerve. Then I'm the one who gets the finger. My sister would have needed another hip surgery if we got hit. I'm not going to stop in the middle of the road with cars behind me just because you're in a hurry.
My wife keeps seeing the road rage incidents and keeps getting on me about them. She is afraid that I am going to get shot or something. I don't flip people off but am not afraid to tap the horn when someone does something insanely stupid and put people at risk and I will give them the "WTF was that?" look if they look at me.

On that note, I hope they find the guy who did this. Nothing makes you feel more like a man than beating the **** out of a senior citizen.

This, among many other reasons, is why some of us old guys are skeptical that cloud computing and cloud storage are the answer.

I was doing my taxes and despite my better judgement I was going for the cheaper doing it online thing rather than springing for the more expensive download of the software. I stop for a few minutes in the middle of itemizing a bunch of donations to help the daughter with a homework problem. I return to find out the system has logged me out for inactivity so all of the entry I had just done was gone with the wind.

Oh, and they send you a new verification code to your email address that you have to enter every time you log in. A new email and code every time you log in even if they just logged you out two minutes before! Since my crappy CenturyLink internet service and email is less than reliable this is another cause for rejoicing.

Visiting Pants is starting to look more and more desirable.

For most of my history grad school time, I've been a staunch digital proponent for ease of use, storage, and access. Turns out I was pretty conservative about the whole thing.

In my final research seminar, two colleagues one night gave a scheduled, planned, prepared, passionate pitch about Zotero. Not how I want to do things, but cool.
Then they really got excitable and fired up that you don't have to store things on your own devices at all anymore, because you can store every bit of your research on the cloud with Zotero.

My adviser was teaching the class, and she'd heard a ton of my thoughts about the greatness of digital media. She looked my way just in time to see me visibly cringe and cross my arms, and she looked even more skeptical about the whole thing.

So I asked some questions about what happens when all of your work is placed in one basket, then there's a server glitch and all that work is gone. The answer, and the Signal Corps guy in me almost lost it all, "Oh, that'll never happen."
We dialogued. I was plainly never satisfied, and fight against that cult all the time.

Then in practical terms, when I was halfway through the first draft of my dissertation, I had it stored in three different places, each chapter its own set of files in its own folder. At that point, it amounted to 18 different files. One magical day, for no good reason, 17 of them disappeared.
Thankfully, I had printed copies still as well as copies e-mailed to my adviser, because counting on one storage solution is just begging to fail.

And yeah, I'm ready to work tonight.

I never use my horn, just not part of my reaction to close calls, I'm only focused on controlling the car.

So much for Minnesota nice on that one. I don't understand when there isn't any tin bent why there would be any reason to follow somebody let alone get into a altercation with them. It is frustrating when somebody makes a driving error in front of you but as long as nothing gets bent or nobody hurt let it go. Never know when you might be the one making the error.

We still haven't seen it yet. :(

It has a lot more quirky humor than most movies of this genre, from the first lines uttered in it and then throughout. Think Thor in the first movie smashing his coffee cup after stating "I like this drink. Bring me more!" And it has a talkative chatty Hulk. The more I think about it the more I know I really liked it. Plus Chris Hemsworth was made to play Thor.

@CycloneErik Got the "That'll never happen" answer (supposedly) from a software vendor when transitioning to their medical clinic software. (Question was "What is the process when one patient's record gets mixed with another patient's record to untangle them?") Yeeeaaahhh...as long as there are humans touching those records, it's going to happen. Needless to say, someone(s) figured out a process in-house, and we went with that.

My husband feels like that since he's missed SOOOO many movies in the MCU, that it isn't worth it to even try to catch up.:(

Haven't heard any specifics about the chemicals yet, but the news says they were homemade explosives.

and that's after they had the one on the west side a couple weeks ago where they evacuated for a smell and found the dude had these explosive chemicals and timers in the apartment. Not sure what's going on up here!

I don't think he had to see them in order. Except for the single person focus. Thor 1, 2.... Even then most are great on their own.

Erik has the comic history (lol) in our house. That hasn't stopped my enjoyment of them.

Thought the RTT community should be the first to know. Over beers tonight @cyrocksmypants and I have decided to move to Australia and open an Indie movie production house. Baby Pineapple Productions first feature length movie, Seven Eggs for Malorie, is due out in 2020. Thinking Oscars nomination here. Remember that you heard it here first.

Well that will be a good way to spend some of that retirement cash. I'm guessing the Aussie ladies will fawn over some Tux wearing Boxster.
