@BoxsterCy I enjoyed your sugar rant. Back in the 70s, the Federal government became apperhensive about the amount of fat in processed foods, and so ordered companies to not only decrease those levels, but put nutrition info on the packaging.

Food companies, now stripped of the things they used to enhance flavor in food, decided that the best replacement for fat was sugar. Unfortunately, this contributed to not only an enormous increase in Type 2 diabetes, but also widespread obesity. Curiously, the Feds have decided not to challenge processed food manufacturers along the same lines as before. Plus, though the amount of sugar(s) must be listed on nutrition labels, you will notice that it is not required to give the percentage of RDA.....as is done with nearly everything else.
My opinion is that the sugar industry has gotten into the pockets of our representatives in government, and bought them off to look the other way. (Part of this is that I watched "Serpico" last night. Talk about a crusader......)
