Jeez, I leave for 18 hours and this place turns into some juvenile innuendo-laden den of iniquity!?!?

Yeh.
You missed "boys' night out". :D

Yeah, I heard about this on my commute home last night. It is amazing the stupid things people do.

Darwin Awards

Really dumb move when I heard about it. Even dumber when I read it was a freakin' Desert Eagle hand cannon. Compounding the dumbness is arresting her. Sure she was stupid but the guy that got killed was the guy that convinced her it was okay and to do it. Profoundly stupid and tragic for her and the kid(s) but this is not a crime. I'd be whistling a different tune if the child had been hurt.

It's probably not a felony but it is probably considered involuntary manslaughter and it's very likely that the city has an ordinance about not aiming dangerous weapons at other people unless it's in self-defense. I don't know if the second part of that is very enforceable. Calling @CloneLawman

Nothing grinds my gears more than **** like this. Even a .22 would have probably still penetrated the book and killed him.

At the very least, do a test run on the book first. Then they could have seen the fist sized hole in the back of the book and said, "Ya know, maybe we should re-think this"

Doubt they had war and peace sitting around to use. Probably a soft back picture book. Those 12 glossy pages don't stop much.

No big storm damage, just lots of little stuff. First one we did today, boss said was blocking a driveway. We get there, it isn't blocking the driveway, just on the edge of it.

The one article I read said the boyfriend had told her (not showed her?) a different book stopped the bullet so it was okay to go through with it.

@harimad and @BCClone Do your girls wear Ringors with pitching toes? Daughter needed new cleats so we broke down and got Ringors. Had read a couple places that individuals recommended pitching toes for catchers, but we just bought the regular ones. Not even a month of use and the toes are trashed. They claim to have the longest lasting cleats out there. Sent them a pic of the damage, compared to her Nikes that cost 1/3 of the price and lasted 3x as long which held up much better. They are sending us new cleats with the pitching toes at no cost. If this all works out, we will be buying Ringors again when she needs new ones. Now they do have a disclaimer that they will not replace shoes due to pitching wear. They say nothing about catching wear.

Daughter's has been Nike except for maybe one pair of mizunos Never wore out her toes, new shoes every year and she doesn't play AAU games so she doesn't see as much wear. Son has been a catcher forever and is actually on the same pair of nikes for three years now.

My nephew who plays for Austin destroys the toes in his shoes though and has had nearly every kind.
