This post made my night. Hearing C4M say "sucks balls" is priceless! ;)

Yes, the wedding and the reception are at Honey Creek. We're still trying to find a place nearby to spend the night after the reception, since the rates at Honey Creek are pretty crazy for us to stay one night and leave very early the next morning. Any recommendations? I would hate to drive back to Des Moines, but also don't want to stay anywhere near or on northern Missouri.

Gee, don't go all the way back to Des Moines. That would be silly. How far do you want to drive after the wedding? If you are avoiding Missouri, guessing you will either go up to US 34 or down to Iowa 2 to go over to I-35. There are plenty of acceptable options in Osceola if you go to 34 that would be better than doubling up to Des Moines. Americinn, Super 8, the Casino there. If you want to go up to 34 and don't want to drive that far, I've heard a mixed bag on the Indian Hills Inn in Albia, both love and hate. You could also go less out of your way than Des Moines but head east and have a ton of options in Ottumwa.

If it were me, I would go down to highway 2. US 34 probably the better road, but I like scenic and less populated Highway 2. There are close options in Centerville. Yeah, it's kind of a badass town anymore but lots of money has been poured into the town at various times. Not sure what the cost is, but have heard good things about The Continental and Maple Street Inn & Cottage. Or you could just stay at the Super 8. If you went farther on Highway 2 route, have heard good things about the Inn of the Six Toed Cat in Allerton. It's a B & B.

Close to Honey Creek Resort but less expensive, have heard good things about the Grey Goose Inn. I think it is sort of between the Honey Creek Resort and the Honey Creek State Park. Also a B &B. You could cut through Melrose and up to 34 when you leave, or backtrack to Highway 5. Not sure with the lake there if there is a better way to get to highway 2 than going back to Highway 5. They have good burgers at Feehans in Melrose.

Keep in mind, I have stayed at none of these places but going word of mouth.

I've never understood the aversion some females have to that? Doesn't seem duragatory?

Dictionary.com says it is often offensive. Doesn't bother me, but why take the chance now that you are back in the dating pool?

I'm no authority, having been married for 31 years, but I tell my sons, one whom was recently dumped by girlfriend at age 24, that I suggest getting involved in activities that interest you is a way to go. Then maybe you meet someone with similar interests? Maybe volunteer activities at church, or ISU alumni group, or a coed rec league of some kind? How about the PTA? Or other activities at your kids' school?

Pro tip: don't let them hear you call them "chicks".
Just sayin...
This guy always got away with it.

How about in this context, 'she's a really cool chick'?

To me 'chick' seems like the female version of 'dude'.

Again, it's fine with me but probably not with some other women so I wouldn't risk offending someone unless you know them well and know it won't offend.

Sorry to hear about it snowcraig. Going on 20 years of marriage so I'm not one to give advice. Always said if I became single, I'd stay single. No live ins either. Too independent now to deal with that stuff. I don't do a good job of feigning interest anymore.

Try to find a rich one, unhappy and rich sounds like a better deal than unhappy and poor.

Hard to explain, really...and like Carvers said, it depends on the woman. When I was dating (at 39, with two teenage sons at home), I had even less of a liking for it than I did as a teenager. I suppose it's better than "broad", though. :D

Some women react negatively immediately, some just internalize, and some just don't give a damn. Why risk it?

These are pretty good. I had a friend that met his wife in his mid-thirties when he joined a running club.

Frank Sinatra used the term "broads" all the time and he's one of the great lotharios of the modern age. I suppose the eyes, voice and money probably helped.

Anyone have any experience with an online resume builder?
My resume is ancient and I figure I should redo it in a format that is more updated as opposed to when I did mine years ago. I'm not sure what has changed much but figured I would ask.

He didn't mean it as a compliment, I'd wager. But yeah, money & fame can "excuse" a lot...like grabbing ***** for example. I wouldn't consider that a compliment either. :D

Are "pumas" and "cougars" acceptable?

Not. Neither is sea hag or lake hag which you might know if you ever hung out at Lake Minnetonka. I also try to limit CWW outside of RTT and amongst close friends as the meaning is lost without a lengthy backstory. I was always on guard that it did not slip out accidentally at work in casual conversation.
