Bummer about the baseball call.
There are lots of pics from our games where questionable calls are either validated or exposed.We were supposed to have 2 JV make up games last week but had to cancel because one of our JV pitchers broke her hand. I think I mentioned that already, and her club volleyball team is playing in junior nationals right now. She was their setter.
We had a 4 game varsity "tournament" Friday and Saturday. We have one varsity pitcher now who pitched every varsity game last week--7 of them. The girls hit a groove their last 2 games Saturday. Got a walk-off win with international tie breaker rules due to time (start the inning with a runner on 2nd). The second game was close and ended up losing 2-1. Watching the girls is so frustrating at times because they just don't have that intrinsic will to win. Gonna steal 2nd? Awesome. But why slide when the play is close. Really? Get your a$$ to the ground and get in there. Hit a bloop hit to 3rd? Why run hard to 1st? Gee, maybe the fielder will bobble the ball and you COULD have made it if you ran. Just different from what you see in tournament ball. I will say our one pitcher has stepped up and done a decent job. She is also eighth grade, so our battery is young. She and our daughter played together in rec ball and do make a good pair so there is potential there.
We did feel bad because after 2 weeks of games everyday except a couple she should have had a day off yesterday. Nope, it was the 1st of 2 tryout days for our club team. Tryouts were supposed to be 6-8pm with a parent meeting at five thirty. So they left here shortly after four. Tryouts ran an hour long, got home at ten. Then strength first thing this am.
