Most definitely. It's his least favorite. Worst is, he's missing wrestling camps for this and he was one win from state last year. Wants to play college football and missing football camps for this, I hope this is his last season because they will stink even more next year. The coach in his infinite wisdom moved this kid who leads the conference in errors to replace a kid who is listed as being error free this season. The error champ kids own mom doesn't even make games on time and is surprised when she hears he is still playing.
@Cybirdy, the JV softball games are now gathering larger crowds than varsity. Several people have said they prefer watching the JV because it's not so painful to watch. Friday night, the varsity lost in four innings. The JV won by the 10 run rule. Daughter started at pitcher thursday night for the first, and hopefully last, time. After the game she was upset how no one can catch or even knows the game at all. I just replied that that is why I didn't want varsity pitching for her.
Bummer about the baseball call.
We were supposed to have 2 JV make up games last week but had to cancel because one of our JV pitchers broke her hand. I think I mentioned that already, and her club volleyball team is playing in junior nationals right now. She was their setter.
We had a 4 game varsity "tournament" Friday and Saturday. We have one varsity pitcher now who pitched every varsity game last week--7 of them. The girls hit a groove their last 2 games Saturday. Got a walk-off win with international tie breaker rules due to time (start the inning with a runner on 2nd). The second game was close and ended up losing 2-1. Watching the girls is so frustrating at times because they just don't have that intrinsic will to win. Gonna steal 2nd? Awesome. But why slide when the play is close. Really? Get your a$$ to the ground and get in there. Hit a bloop hit to 3rd? Why run hard to 1st? Gee, maybe the fielder will bobble the ball and you COULD have made it if you ran. Just different from what you see in tournament ball. I will say our one pitcher has stepped up and done a decent job. She is also eighth grade, so our battery is young. She and our daughter played together in rec ball and do make a good pair so there is potential there.
We did feel bad because after 2 weeks of games everyday except a couple she should have had a day off yesterday. Nope, it was the 1st of 2 tryout days for our club team. Tryouts were supposed to be 6-8pm with a parent meeting at five thirty. So they left here shortly after four. Tryouts ran an hour long, got home at ten. Then strength first thing this am.
