I've tried quitting pop several times to no avail. There are many days I won't have one, but lunch at work is my Achilles heel. Movie theaters too.

I've never been able to drink pop in the morning, though. It just hurts my teeth thinking about it. I need milk or water or juice. And I have never drank coffee at all.
I don't go to the theater as much as I used to but it's so hard to resist the popcorn and coke. Last time I actually resisted but that is not the norm. There is just something about smelling that popcorn when I walk in.

I always think it's the oil smell. Or the buttery smell in the air.

Good point. Spider-Man will be a test, and I'll probably just go ahead and drink something there.

Are we all having work troubles?

To start the day off, both the manager & assistant manager missed that no one was scheduled for opening. So, didn't get going on my "daily chores" until an hour and a half later than I should have. Then, came across a sticky wicket that could have been prevented. THEN! Get a phone call from my "job share" coworker who fell & injured her bad knee, and is now on crutches, so she can't work for the whole next week, at least. So I'm up scrambling to get some coverage. *deep breath*

I've got other stuff going on, "housekeeping" has lagged the last two weeks. Feel like I'm in a tug-o-war with what I want/need to do, and what other people think/want/need me to do.

Would it be piling on to say that today is my Friday and I'm strongly considering leaving early?

and I'm on vacation the week of the 4th

I've never liked fountain pop, but same for me on the popcorn. But then I spend the better part of the next three days trying to remove hull pieces from under my crowns. :D

So this all expense paid trip to Costa Rica has cost me $320 so far. I mean, I'm not complaining because $320 for five days all expense paid is still damned good, but still....

$320? That's a whole lotta Costa Rican prostitutes.

Keep your receipts. Maybe you can get reimbursed.

There should be a #popisnotacorgi or something cooler. Boxster, I kinda miss those.

I have a new devil food. Cranberry-orange mini scones on sale at Byerly's are the devil. They go great with coffee AND wine both! Not good since that means no escape, a.m. or p.m.

However, with all of that said, pop is still....

guy here used to open a Mt. Dew bright and early each day. Don't sit by him anymore so not sure if he still does.

I suppose I should be thankful that pop was always a 'treat' in our house growing up and never really a regular thing. Somehow, that stuck with me even through the fountain pop availability days in college. DH and I would have it on the weekends, but not during the week.

Even now, it's mostly a mixer for rum on weekends. Used to have a couple glasses at restaurants when we'd go out but when I started trying to be healthier post-college/save for money, I switched to water when we ate out, cutting calories and cost. I can't think of the last time I ordered straight pop at a restaurant now that I think of it. Rum and coke, yes, but not just pop.

My FIL lives off of Dr. Pepper, candy and pizza. You would think he would be huge but he is thing. Not a twig but thin. It has really started catching up with him the last 5ish years. He gets cramps a lot and it takes his joints a bit to loosen up after sleeping. He also works at least 16 hours a day (two jobs) plus OT and only sleeps 4ish hours a night.

Pop is also a bit of sticky subject in our house. My in-laws drink that and coffee a ton and are VERY picky about it. It can't even have a hint of being flat, god forbid the syrup mix or whatever not be just right or they will send it back when out to eat as well. Especially stuff going flat is a big annoyance of mine because it a lot of times leads to only half drank bottles. I see it as money going down the drain while they just see it as bad pop. MrsWx learned this lesson in college and has actually cut back her intake quite a bit.

I will drink Sprite/Sierra Mist on occasion but mostly avoid it. Kind of annoying as someone who is trying to/needs to lose weight that the first thing people say is to cut out stuff like that and watch the pounds fall off...

Well, in my case, the pounds started piling on! There were a few other factors, of course...menopause and quitting smoking, plus the worsening arthritis in my back. Oh well...

So I had a package stolen. It was delivered Saturday, but when I went to get it, it wasn't there. My mailbox is in a larger, community box. I just assumed it was in my landlord's box, no big deal, I'll just ask her to check when I see her. Haven't seen her recently though, but I caught the mail lady today, and told her about it. So she checked all the other boxes and nothing. So someone stole it. It's a knife sharpener I bought for my dad for his birthday, which was the day it was delivered. The mail lady said it was a new person on Saturday.
