Was messing around on a pallet jack and somehow bruised the **** out of the inside of my foot and can barely walk.
Not the brightest move.

So are you going to tough it out or milk it out into a workman's comp claim with some time off?

So, over the last three weeks, we have met 5 new doctors in 4 new specialties, all because of a routine physical. One CT scan, one PET scan, one nuclear renal scan, several gallons of blood tests and two biopsies (one of a lymph node under the left arm and one from the right lung) later, and we finally have a series of diagnoses (plural) that we can live with...literally. Routine CT monitoring early signs of emphysema found a "cavitary lesion" in PapaLew's lung. Went for a PET scan, which showed not just the lung lesion but a swollen lymph node and a flamed out kidney.

All kinds of possibilities run through your minds, and at our age, few are good. We met a bunch of new doctors (hematology oncologist, pulmonologist, pathologist, radiologist, infectious diseases specialist) who gave us multiple possibilities.

Net results:
The kidney stone comes out on 3 July (everyone cross your legs, cause they're going up the old waterway to get to it).
The cavitary lesion is NOT cancerous, either malignant or benign. It is a byproduct of a fungal infection called Histoplasmosis. He will have to take an anti-fungal for the next year (takes a long time for this crap to grow, and an equally long time to kill it.
The lymph node is from CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, stage zero). It's a very slow growing cancer that is basically just "there" - just a bunch of extra malformed lymphocytes hanging out in the lymph node. It's not doing anything, it's not causing any symptoms, so they don't treat it unless it decides to "get busy". They just monitor it to make sure there are no changes. Blood test every 3-6 months for the rest of his life, which should be quite long!

We can now breathe again! I'm not even sure why I'm sharing this. Partly relief. Partly because I am very lucky to have a partner like PapaLew in my life, and I get to keep him by my side for many years to come! And partly because of the fact that I am so VERY grateful for the wonderful specialists at McFarland, and the way that they took us through this process so very quickly and competently. We are fortunate to have a facility like this clinic here in Ames.
That is pretty much all good news but my thoughts and prayers are still with you.

I've had the Hershey squirt blues for the past 12+ hours. Damn you Denver Airport food.

Oh mama, could this really be the end? To be stuck inside of Denver with the Hershey squirt blues again.

During a brief stint on third shift at a WalMart DC, we used to get going full speed and try to turn 180s or better on a wet dock. During one particular attempt, I launched myself rag-doll-style and ended up with a fist-sized bruise on my hip that lasted for a good 2 weeks.

I fared better than another guy though. He panicked, let go of the handle part and it sprung up and broke his nose.

So what did you watch? We both skipped tonight's away game, I think one of us has been at every other game. After last night's horrible game hubby witnessed, he bowed out of tonight.

Our team will barely be limping across the finish line. We started the season with multiple girls out for the season with injuries. On Monday one of our 8th graders that gets pulled up to varsity if a starter is missing/pinch runs came with a torn rotator cuff from a basketball injury. Then today I find out our 8th grade starting center fielder broke her wrist/hand and is out for 4-8 weeks. She also plays volleyball and will miss club nationals next week. So next in is an 8th grader who quit last year because "Coach played his favorites" (aka my daughter) and her mom was complaining that she wasn't even getting JV playing time.

So we get a team ranked 2nd in our class for regionals.

Ended up daughter only Dhing. So I sat at baseball and would run over when a parent would text me the girl in front of her go on Deck. She got out for the first time last night so she was disappointed that she's no longer batting 1.000. Son has now thrown out every runner stealimg second for two straight games. Previous catcher threw out one in 2 1/2 years and that was at third. Think he may be benched due to past catcher was moved to LF and he has literally dropped everything hit to him. This kid never sees the bench so we are waiting for lineups tonight. Coach won't tell anyone, even team, who is playing before taking warmups.

No one can recap quite like CG. Half the time I get my info second hand, so not quite like her "in the action" updates. I did find out that daughter could have had a triple last night on JV if the base runner in front of her knew how to run the bases. She got a single. Next hit daughter takes off and the other girl stays on her base. She ends up going around her to score but got called out for passing her. The girl did feel bad, she admits she doesn't know how to run bases.

See, this is better. :D Reminded me of passing my cousin on the bases and getting called out. It's only been like 55 years and I still remember being a frustrated little boy cause I was the one called out!

Daughter is not fast and bats 9th. Lead off is very fast. Daughter was on first last night, lead off hits a deep one. Daughter rounds third and hits the brakes and heads back, just as lead off reaches third. Throw goes home, lead off heads to second, home throws to shortstop and touches second, daughter heads home and lead off starts to head to the dugout thinking she's out, shortstop throws home but late, first base coach and crowd yell at lead off to get on second (never left base path), catcher throws to second baseman after lead off makes it back. So....after two girls end up on the same base, they both abandon third and both safe.

We were tied going into the 6th, most competitive we've been all season. We are far from decent. They have 0 wins. Baseball has 2. My son's third grade team is 2-4 and he tells them he has as many wins as both his siblings. Our school stinks at summer sports.
