Little over a week in on the pills my Dr. gave for my knee. Not seeing much progress. The pain is on the inside of the knee and the pain mainly occurs when you bend the knee especially getting up from a seated position and going to sit down.

The doctor said to give this medicine 2 weeks then if pain is there it might be time for an MRI. Don't want to go that far as I've never had one before and i assume they aren't cheap to do. I have insurance through work but they doesn't pay much on their end. Scared of them maybe finding a tear somewhere which might have me off my feet for a few weeks or even months and can't afford to be not working that long.

I don't think it is a tear because I can walk on that leg and I don't think that would be possible if there was a tear somewhere. Anyone have knee issue experiences?

Rulzzz, I have had a torn meniscus. I could walk on it. It would heal up a bit when I was off of it, and then when on my feet a lot, it would suddenly give out. It did get better after a long time.

My son had surgery on his, it was worse than mine.

Yeah. Mine popped when I was going down some stairs. I could walk with it torn, but it swelled up & hurt like an SOB and I was at my doc within a couple of days. He sent me straight to the orthopedist, who sent me straight out to the get MRI, which showed that I actually had two tears on opposite sides.
The morning after the ISU-Iowa game (where we came back from 20 down and beat them even with Uthoff's 400 gazillion points) they wheeled me into the OR, and there's my ortho...wearing a black & gold surgical cap. The OR nurse was wearing a cap with ISU all over it, and I asked if I could wear hers for luck since my doc was a Hawkeye. She told me not to worry, because everyone else in the room was a Cyclone and they had my back. :)
Surgery was on a Friday morning, and was arthroscopic - he just made three little holes around my kneecap. He had me stay off it for two days; by Sunday I was walking fairly well. It took a little longer to be comfortable on stairs without hanging on to railings, but I was able to go back to work on Monday. My job is mostly a desk job, though.
From tearing it to fixing it was 12-15 days. Whole thing went really fast. I was walking on it until the surgery, but I don't think I could have gutted it out like Carvers did.

These HS hours kill me. To have a semblance of a talk with my oldest means I have to allow him to reemerge at midnight to do homework and then chat about 1-2 in the morning.

I tore my ACL a while back and they ended up fixing the meniscus while they were in there. It sounds like that is your issue. Don't be too nervous about the MRI. It's a really loud machine but it's harmless. You should be able to figure out what your co-pay is by calling your insurance company. Mine has been the same as an x-ray which had a pretty reasonable co-pay. It may get better temporarily but you are going to want to get it fixed in the not-to-distant future. If not, you could get some arthritis issues when you're older. The knee I had operated on is now better than the one that hasn't been operated on.

It's scary how much homework HS kids have these days. My daughter isn't usually up that late but it tends to be until about 11 every night.

Don't tell me this. Daughter is already thinking about giving up volleyball (not playing for school) because she is worried about the amount of homework. She has played club ball since 5th grade and is one of the top 5 players in her class at school.

No. Public school. It really ramped up this year. No idea why. It's already starting with our 2nd grader. One hour of homework for him every day as well.

My third grader only has about 30 minutes every Tuesday night. Then again, maybe he gets special treatment because I'm get busy with hi teacher.

This move site is terrible today.

It's not just HS kids. My 4th grader has 3-4 hours of homework every day.

Thankfully most of our teachers do not believe in homework, and my kids are the type that can get most of it done during class time if given time. I think I can count on one hand the number of times my 5th grader has had homework this year. And even then, it is maybe just a few math problems or finishing a worksheet or something. Middle school (6-8) has a little more.

That guy is still at large. Janesville schools closed tomorrow.

at first I was like oh random robbery probably overcautious to soft lockdown schools. Then I saw the full news story last night and thought holy ****, how do we not have half the ATF down there and schools just down within a 50 mile radius?! I did just see a doc on Newtown the other night though, so maybe that's playing into it.

But yeah, that was a pretty specific threat the guy is making and now he's got like, 18 high-powered rifles?
